 Eighth-Grade Volleyball Regionals — March 10 Scores

Effingham advanced in its own Class 8-4A Volleyball Regional with a victory Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs, seeded sixth, upset third-seeded Mount Zion, 25-15, 25-18.

Effingham was led by Kendyl Smith with four kills and two blocks, Madalyn Hoffman with three aces, Kenley Moore with five assists and five digs and Kloey Bierman, also with five digs.

In other matches, Chatham Glenwood defeated Charleston, 25-2, 25-9, Rochester won over Mattoon 25-13, 21-25, 25-23 and Taylorville downed Stephen Decatur, 25-4, 25-4.

The regional continues tonight as Chatham Glenwood faces Rochester at 6 p.m. followed by Effingham against Taylorville at 7. The winners will then head to the championship match Thursday at 6 p.m.

Class 8-4A Effingham Regional

Effingham — McGee, 1 assist, 1 dig; Hites, 1 kill, 1 dig; Moore, 1 kill, 2 aces, 5 assists, 5 digs; Barnhart, 1 kill, 2 aces, 4 digs; Wilson, 1 block; Hoffman, 2 kills, 3 aces, 4 digs; Hood, 2 kills; Smith, 4 kills, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 2 digs; Bierman, 5 digs

 

At Chrisman

Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to the championship match of the Class 8-1A Chrisman Scottland Regional after winning Tuesday.

Third-seeded Stew-Stras downed No. 7 Findlay Okaw Valley, 25-14, 25-9.

In the other match, top-seeded Chrisman Scottland won over No. 5 Windsor, 25-13, 25-8.

Stew-Stras and Chrisman Scottland now meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

 

At Martinsville

Sigel St. Michael moved into the championship match of the Class 8-1A Martinsville Regional with a victory Tuesday evening.

The top-seeded Sharpshooters downed No. 4 Altamont Lutheran, 25-16, 25-20.

In the second match, No. 2 Martinsville won over No. 3 West Salem, 25-21, 20-25, 25-14.

St. Michael and Martinsville meet at 4:30 p.m. today for the regional championship.

 

At Morrisonville

Effingham St. Anthony will be playing for the championshlp of the Class 8-2A Morrisonville Regional after winning Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups, seeded third, downed No. 2 South Central.

South Central won the opening set 27-25 but St. Anthony came back with 25-22, 25-8 tallies for the match.

In the opener, fifth-seeded Nokomis pulled off an upset over top-seeded Morrisonville, 25-6, 25-21.

St. Anthony and Nokomis will now meet for the regional title Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

At Louisville

Top-seeded North Clay moved into its own Class 8-2A Regional championship match with a victory over No. 5 Casey-Westfield Tuesday evening.

North Clay defeated Casey-Westfield, 25-14, 25-19.

Dieterich, seeded third, then downed No. 2 seeded Oblong, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23.

North Clay and Dieterich now meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

 

At Lawrenceville

Jasper County moved into the title contest with a hard-fought win over Cumberland at the Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional Tuesday.

In the opening match of the evening, top-seeded Lawrenceville Parkview defeated No. 5 Paris Mayo, 25-12, 25-11.

Then in the second contest, Cumberland, seeded sixth, won the opening set 26-24.

But Jasper County, seeded second, came back with a 25-20 win then claimed the match 25-14. The winners were led by Briscoe with five aces, 12 kills and two blocks, Wolf with 19 assists and Jansen with nine digs.

Jasper County now meets Lawrenceville Parkview at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

At Lawrenceville
