 Eighth-Grade Volleyball Regionals — March 7 Results

Eighth-grade volleyball regionals opened play Saturday. Following are the local regionals with the winners.

Class 8-1A Chrisman Scottland Regional

Windsor and Findlay Okaw Valley moved on after capturing victories.

Windsor defeated Hume Shiloh, 25-23, 25-14.

Findlay Okaw Valley won over Philo St. Thomas, 17-25, 25-20, 25-17.

The final match saw Stewardson-Strasburg down Homer Heritage, 25-9, 25-23.

Windsor advances to meet Chrisman Scottland Tuesday at 6 p.m. while Stew-Stras will take on Findlay Okaw Valley 20 minutes after the first match.

The winners will then move into the championship match scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-1A Martinsville Regional

Altamont Lutheran opened the Martinsville Regional with a victory Saturday.

Altamont Lutheran, seeded fourth, defeated fifth-seeded Newton St. Thomas, 25-13, 23-25, 25-11.

In the second match, Effingham Sacred Heart’s season came to a close with a 25-22, 25-11 loss to Martinsville.

West Salem then defeated Grayville, 25-16, 25-21.

The winners advance to matches Tuesday. Altamont Lutheran will meet top-seeded Sigel St. Michael at 4:30 p.m. followed by Martinsville against West Salem at 5:45 p.m.

 

Class 8-2A North Clay Regional

Casey-Westfield, seeded fifth, handed Albion, seeded fourth, a loss 25-21, 25-17.

In the second contest, Oblong won over Hutsonville, 25-12, 25-3.

In the final match of the day, Dieterich was a 25-23, 25-14 winner over Neoga.

Top-seeded North Clay will face Casey-Westfield at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Dieterich will then meet Oblong at 6:15 p.m.

The winners will advance to the championship match Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-2A Morrisonville Regional

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, seeded fourth, fell to fifth-seeded Nokomis, 25-17, 25-13 in the opening match.

South Central, seeded second, downed seventh-seeded Altamont, 25-12, 25-16.

In the final match of the day, third-seeded Effingham St. Anthony won over sixth-seeded St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-13, 25-5.

Nokomis and Morrisonville will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

In the second match, South Central takes on St. Anthony at 7:15 p.m.

The winners will then meet for the regional title Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional

Lawrenceville Parkview claimed a victory in its own regional Saturday.

Lawrenceville Parkview, seeded first, easily handled Red Hill (Bridgeport), 25-12, 25-9.

The second match went to Paris Mayo over Marshall, 26-24, 25-13.

Jasper County, seeded second, defeated Teutopolis, 25-10, 25-20.

Jasper County was led by Ginder with two aces, Wolf with seven kills, Mulvey with 12 assists, Jansen with seven digs and Briscoe with one block. Jasper County improved to 15-6.

The final match went to sixth-seeded Cumberland over No. 3 Robinson Nuttall, 25-10, 20-25, 25-22.

Lawrenceville Parkview and Paris Mayo will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. while Jasper County and Cumberland square off 20 minutes after the first match ends.

The winners will then meet for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional

Jasper County — Ginder, 2 aces, 3 digs; Jansen, 1 ace, 7 digs; Briscoe, 1 ace, 1 dig, 1 block; Wolf, 1 ace, 7 kills, 4 assists, 1 dig; Hall, 6 kills; Ochs, 4 kills; Lingafelter, 3 kills, 1 dig; Mulvey, 1 kill, 12 assists, 1 dig; Starwalt, 2 digs

Class 8-4A Effingham Regional

This regional doesn’t open until Tuesday. Chatham Glenwood will face Charleston at 4:30 p.m. followed by Rochester against Mattoon at 5:30, Taylorville meets Stephen Decatur at 6:30 and Effingham finishes out the evening against Mount Zion at 7:30.
