Effingham split victories with Mattoon in junior high volleyball competition Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade match 25-22, 9-25, 25-19 to improve to 12-5 on the season.
Alivia Lauritzen led in kills with 10 while Sophia Wiedman had five aces. Mia Hartke and Kynlie Rohr led in assists with eight each. Lillian Weishaar had one block. Hartke led in digs with seven.
In eighth-grade play, Mattoon was a winner 25-23, 22-25, 25-19.
Kendyl Smith led in aces for Effingham with eight. Miley Wilson had six kills. Jade McGee had eight assists. Kloey Bierman had 17 digs. Faith DeLoach had two blocks.
The Mustangs fell to 8-11 on the season. Both teams will be back in action today hosting Shelbyville.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis played host to Stewardson Trinity and lost at both levels Tuesday.
Trinity won the seventh-grade match, 25-14, 16-25, 25-23.
Trinity also claimed the eighth-grade victory, 25-12, 25-6.
At Altamont
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade action against Altamont Tuesday.
CHBC won the seventh-grade match 25-10, 25-18. Mya Wells led in kills with two. Kynzleigh Sarver had six aces and one assist and Eli Wheeler led in digs with six.
In eighth-grade play, Altamont won the opener 26-24 but CHBC came back with 28-26, 25-22 scores for the match.
Altamont was led by Kinze Polk with six digs,
Alyson Lawrence had nine kills for CHBC while Reece Vaughn led in aces with seven. Valentina Doty had 13 assists. Reece Vaughn led in blocks with four and Jacey Sears led in digs with six while Payton Ort had 11 kills. Addison Neu led in aces with four and and blocks with one. Teegan Burrus had seven assists.
At Altamont

North Clay defeated Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.
North Clay won the seventh-grade match, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23.
North Clay claimed the eighth-grade match, 25-8, 25-7.
The winners are back in action Thursday against Neoga in eighth-grade recognition night.
At Casey
Casey-Westfield came calling at Neoga and was a winner in both matches Tuesday.
Casey-Westfield claimed the seventh-grade contest, 25-15, 25-22.
In eighth-grade play, Casey-Westfield was a 25-16, 25-18 winner.
