 NTC Seventh-Grade Tourney, Junior High Volleyball Roundup — Feb. 6-7

WINDSOR — Cumberland claimed the championship of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

In Match 5, South Central won over Neoga while Match 6 went to Cumberland over Sigel St. Michael. Match 7 was claimed by Windsor over Stewardson-Strasburg and Match 8 went to St. Elmo/Brownstown over North Clay.

In Match 9 in consolation bracket play, Stew-Stras defeated Neoga and in Match 10, Sigel St. Michael won over North Clay.

In winner bracket play, South Central defeated Windsor in Match 11 and Match 12 went to Cumberland over St. Elmo/Brownstown.

In the consolation championship, Stew-Stras defeated Sigel St. Michael.

Third place went to St. Elmo/Brownstown over Windsor.

The championship was claimed by Cumberland over South Central.

No scores were reported for any of these matches.

 

At St. Anthony

Teutopolis traveled to Effingham St. Anthony Friday evening and won the seventh-grade match, 25-10, 25-15.

In eighth-grade play, the Bullpups lost the opener 24-26 but came back with 25-22, 25-12 victories for the mach.

The two teams spit C matches. T-town won 25-18 and St. Anthony won 25-20.

 

At Neoga

South Central came to town and captured both seventh- and eighth-grade victories over Neoga Friday evening.

South Central won the seventh-grade match, 25-20, 25-9. Neoga dropped to 0-2.

In eigthh-grade play, South Central won 25-15, 25-23.

Neoga’s eighth-grade also dropped to 0-2.

 

At Patoka

North Clay handed Patoka losses in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Friday.

North Clay captured the seventh-grade match. The team lost the opening set 26-24 but came back with 25-11, 15-10 scores for the victory.

In eighth-grade play, North Clay was a 25-18, 25-16 winner.

 

At Newton

Jasper County competed in the LEIC Eighth-Grade Tournament Saturday.

Jasper County defeated Marshal, 25-8, 25-20 and Paris Mayo 25-10, 25-22.

In the championship match, Lawrenceville claimed the 25-19, 25-15 victory. Jasper County finished second and sports a 10-4 record.

Jasper County was led by Briscoe with 12 total aces and 10 kills. Mulvey had 23 total assists. Jansen had 11 digs and Hall had five blocks.

Jasper County is back in action today at Robinson.
