 Junior High Volleyball — February 2 Results

COWDEN — Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City swept Neoga in junior high volleyball competition Monday evening.

CHBC lost the opening set in seventh-grade play, 25-22 but came back with 25-19, 25-21 scores for the win.

The Bobcats were led by Mila Wakefield with six kills, Elli Wheeler with eight aces and five digs and Brook Tucker with seven assists.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC again lost the opening set 25-20 but came back with 25-22, 25-19 wins for the match.

Anna Hart led in kills with six and digs with nine and Hadley Pope had four aces and eight assists.

At Cowden

Seventh-Grade Match

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City — Tucker, 3 kills, 5 aces, 7 assists, 3 digs; Wheeler, 2 kills, 8 aces, 5 digs; Prater, 2 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs; Sarver, 1 kill 1 assist, 2 digs; Wells, 2 kills, 1 assist, 2 digs; Gill, 4 aces, 1 dig; Dilley, 2 digs; Wakefield, 6 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs; McCoy, 1 kill

At Mahomet

Effingham split victories with Mahomet-Seymour in Monday evening play.

The Mustangs were winners in seventh-grade play, 25-10, 25-12 and improved to 5-1 on the season.

Leah Ring and Kynlie Rohr had three kills each, Mia Hartke four aces and five assists, Rosie Schmidt also had five assists and two digs.

In eighth-grade action, Mahomet-Semour was a winner, 25-8, 25-16. EJHS dropped to 2-4.

The Mustangs were led by Savannah Fear and Kendyl Smith with two kills each while Fear led in blocks with one and digs with three. Kenley Moore had one ace and five assists. Madalyn Hoffman and Kloey Bierman had three digs each.

Effingham is back in action Thursday against Dieterich.

At Mahomet

At Teutopolis

Jasper County and Teutopolis picked up a victory each Monday evening.

Teutopolis won the seventh-grade match, 25-23, 14-25, 25-20.

Leading Jasper County were Wagner with nine aces, E. Wolf with four kills, H. Wolf with five assists and Hartrich with six digs and three blocks.

In eighth-grade play, T-town won the opener 25-21 but Jasper County came back with 25-13, 25-15 scores for the match.

Wolf led in aces with four and kills with five. Mulvey had eight assists. Jansen led in digs with five and Briscoe had two blocked shots.

Jasper County is back in action today against Cumberland beginning at 4:30 with both seventh- and eighth-grade teams having 5-1 records.

At Teutopolis

At Stewardson

Stewardson Trinity Lutheran won the seventh-grade match over Altamont Monday evening.

Trinity Lutheran claimed the victory with 25-19, 25-5 scores.

Altamont was led by Adriana Starnes with six digs, Emerson Kuenstler with one kill and one dig, Cali Ruffner, with one ace and three digs; Roslyn Kalber with one ace, two kills and one dig; Brooklyn Burner with one dig and Blakely McClellan with one ace and one assist.

Altamont is back in action today against Dieterich.

 

At St. Peter

North Clay was a winner over St. Peter Monday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade match, 25-21, 25-16 and claimed the eighth-grade contest, 25-11, 25-22.

North Clay is back in action today against St. Anthony at 4:15 p.m.
