 Junior High Volleyball — January 29 Results

Effingham played host to Effingham St. Anthony in junior high volleyball action Thursday.

The two teams split victories. Effingham was a 25-8, 25-22 winner in the seventh-grade match.

The Mustangs spread the kills around as Anna Gouchenouer, Rosie Schmidt, Leah Ring, Kynlie Rohr and Alivia Lauritzen had two each. Lillian Weishaar, Mia Hartke and Sophia Wiedman had three aces each. Schmidt, Ring, Hartke and Alivia Lauritzen had one assist each. Gouchenouer led in digs with five.

St. Anthony was led by Maeve Niebrugge with four digs, one block and five aces. Brynn Weber also had one block and Morgan Litz was the leader in assists with one while Elle Bierman led in kills with one.

The Mustangs improved to 4-1 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony won 25-16, 25-19.and is back in action Monday at Mahomet-Seymour. The Bullpups were led by Amaya Griffith with three digs and four aces, Nina Semple with seven assists and four aces and Bella Schultz with five kills

Effingham was led by Kendyl Smith with four kills while Kenley Moore had three aces and six assists. Faith DeLoach led in blocks with two. Savanna Fear led in digs with seven.

At Neoga

Neoga picked up two victories over Neoga in junior high volleyball competition Thursday evening.

Neoga was a 25-12, 25-13 winner in seventh-grade play.

Altamont was led by Emerson Kuenstler with two aces and two digs, Roslyn Kalber with one assist and Adriana Starnes with one kill.

In the eighth-grade matchup, Neoga was a 25-21, 25-19 winner.

Altamont was led by Teegan Burrus with four aces and three assists, Payton Ort with five kills and one block and Kinzie Polk with six digs

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to Stewardson-Strasburg and split victories Thursday.

The Shoes won the seventh-grade match, 25-21, 25-16.

Stew-Stras claimed the eighth-grade contest, 25-15, 25-19.

The C match was also won by Stewardson-Strasburg, 25-23, 25-8.

 

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City downed Ramsey in both seventh- and eighth-grade play.

CHBC won the opening set 25-20 in seventh-grade play before Ramsey took the second set 25-20. CHBC then won the match 25-17.

Brooke Tucker, Elli Wheeler, Makynlie Prater and Mya Wells led in kills with two each. Wheeler had 19 aces. Tucker and Kynzleigh Sarver led in assists with one each. Wheeler had six digs.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC won 25-19, 25-21.

Anna Hart led the team in kills with eight. Hadley Pope and Reese Vaughn had three aces each. Pope led in assists with eight. Alyson Lawrence had one block and led in digs with nine.
