Effingham and Teutopolis will be meeting for the championship of the Class 2A Effingham Volleyball Regional after both teams picked up victories Tuesday evening.
The Wooden Shoes, seeded seventh, opened the evening with a hard-fought victory over No. 2 seeded Pinckneyville.
T-town claimed the opening set win 25-20. Pinckneyville fought back to take the second set, 25-22. T-town then captured the match with a 25-23 count.
Marie Zumbahlen led the Shoes in kills with 11 and aces with two. Gabby Tegler also had two aces. Ella Tarter led in digs with 22 and had seven points. Madison Miller and Alicen Niemerg had two blocks each. Kaylie Jordan led in assists with 34 and had seven points.
T-town improved to 25-9 on the season.
In the second match, it was two Effingham teams as the Hearts took on St. Anthony. It went three sets before Effingham captured the victory.
The Bulldogs won the opener 28-26. But Effingham came back with 25-16, 25-23 scores for the match.
The Hearts were led by Mckenzie Love with 22 kills, five aces and four blocks, Berkley Pullen with 37 assists, Camdyn Burgholzer had four blocks and Pullen and Macy Kirk finished with 14 digs each.
St. Anthony was led by Madelyn Gilmore with 29 assists and two aces, Cara Hatton with 15 kills and two blocks and Lilly Gannaway with 20 digs.
Effingham and Teutopolis will now meet for the regional championship Thursday at 6 p.m. The winner will advance to the Trenton Wesclin Sectional Tuesday, Nov. 4.

At McLeansboro
Newton moved into the championship match of the Class 2A McLeansboro Hamilton County Regional.
In the opening match, Carmi White County won over Richland County, Olney, 30-28, 25-23.
In the second match, Newton battled Olney. The Eagles took the tough opening set 30-28 then tallied a 25-23 win in the next set for the match victory.
Bierman led the way in aces with two and kills with 12. Shull had 16 assists. Hermann finished with 19 digs and Pitcher had two blocked shots.
Newton will now face Olney at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the regional champoinship.
