 Volleyball Regionals Underway Around Area Monday Evening

Regional action got underway Monday evening in high school volleyball.

In the Class 1A Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Regional, Cumberland handed Hutsonville Co-op a loss, 25-19, 25-23.

In the opener, Oblong was a winner over Red Hill (Bridgeport), 25-13, 25-10.

Cumberland and Oblong advance to meet each other Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Tonight’s matches feature Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg against Bethany Okaw Valley at 6 and Martinsville facing Tuscola at 7.

 

Class 1A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

Okawville handed Sandoval a 25-6, 25-9 loss in the opening match of the evening.

In the second contest, South Central won over Mulberry Grove, 25-20, 26-24.

Leading South Central were Addisyn Sigrist with 17 digs, Sophie Wodtka with nine aces, Kinlee Thompson with five kills, Mya Schaal with two blocks and River Yingst with 10 assists.

The Cougars are now 15-14 on the season.

South Central and Okawville advance to meet each other at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

In tonight’s matches, St. Elmo/Brownstown takes on Patoka Co-op at 6 followed by two National Trail Conference teams meeting as Altamont faces Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 7.

Class 1A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

South Central — Sigrist, 1 ace, 17 digs; S. Wodtka, 9 aces, 1 kill, 8 assists, 3 digs; B. Wodtka, 4 kills, 3 digs; Peddicord, 1 ace, 8 digs; Thompson, 5 kills, 1 block, 1 dig; Feldhake, 1 ace, 6 digs; Schaal, 2 aces, 4 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs; Holmes, 2 digs; Johnson, 4 kills, 4 digs; Yingst, 1 kill, 10 assists, 2 digs

 

Class 1A Casey-Westfield Regional

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond and Chrisman claimed opening match victories Monday evening.

ALAH won over Arcola, 25-5, 25-8 while Chrisman downed Kansas Co-op 25-11, 25-13.

ALAH and Chrisman will now meet Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Tonight’s matches feature Neoga against Casey-Westfield at 6 and Lawrenceville taking on Villa Grove at 7.

 

Class 1A Nokomis Regional

There was only one match at the Nokomis Regional Monday evening.

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran won over Ramsey Co-op, 25-19, 25-23.

CORL advances to meet Nokomis Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Dieterich and North Clay/Clay City will open play tonight.

Dieterich takes on Carlyle at 6 p.m. while NC/CC meets Raymond Lincolnwood at 7.

 

Class 2A Effingham Regional

Teutopolis advances in the Effingham Regional with a victory Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won over Vandalia, 25-11, 25-11.

Kaylie Jordan had 12 digs and 20 assists for the Shoes. Marie Zumbahlen led in kills with eight. Ella Willenberg had six points. Kailyn Gaddis, Alicen Niemerg and Ella Tarter had one ace each.

The Shoes are now 24-9 on the season.

T-town advances to meet Pinckneyville tonight at 6 followed by Effingham against Effingham St. Anthony at 7.

Ticket prices are set by the IHSA and EHS is not allowed to accept passes and Unit 40 students do not get in free to post season events. There is not a discount for students or senior citizens at IHSA postseason events.

Class 2A McLeansboro Hamilton Co. Regional

Olney, Richland County captured a victory over Flora Monday.

The Tigers won 25-22, 25-11. They will now face Carmi-White County at 6:30 p.m. today.

In the second match tonight, Newton meets McLeansboro Hamilton County at 7:30.
