The National Trail Conference Volleyball Tournament opened play Thursday evening at Effingham St. Anthony.
In match one, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Dieterich a loss in three sets. The Bobcats won 25-18, 13-25, 25-22.
Leading CHBC were Allison Shields with nine kills and 14 digs, Gracie Wright with 16 assists, Ethel Stuckemeyer with four aces and Carissa Wakefield and Gabriella Wakefield with one block each.
Dieterich was led by Kinley Will with three aces and eight kills, Aliza Garner with three aces and 12 assists, Mariah Muhs with 11 digs and Allie Uthell and Bailey Brummer with six blocks each.
Altamont defeated South Central in the second contest, 27-25, 20-25, 25-22.
Hope Roedl led Altamont in digs with 16 and had one ace, Riley Rippetoe led in assists with 18 and blocks with two, Kimber Sphar had 12 kills and Abby Wills had one ace.
Neoga captured a victory over North Clay in match three.
The Cardinals won the opener 25-19 but Neoga battled back with 25-13, 25-13 victories for the match.
Neoga was led by Keeli McKay with three aces and 15 assists, Emily Frankie with three aces and seven digs, Madelynn Frankie with three blocks and six kills and Josalyn Brandenburg with three aces.
Match four went to St. Elmo/Brownstown over Cumberland, 25-22, 25-21.
The fifth contest went to North Clay over Dieterich, 25-17, 25-16.
Dieterich was led by Lydia Wohltman with four digs, Kinley Will with four kills, Aliza Garner with nine assists and Allie Uthell with four blocks.
The sixth contest went to Effingham St. Anthony over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 25-12, 25-9.
Reese Hoene with nine kills, Madelyn Gilmore with 19 assists, Cara Hatton with three aces and Lilly Gannaway with six digs.
The Bulldogs improved to 25-5 on the season.
The Bobcats were led by Gracie Wright with three assists, Zoe Sarver and Ethel Stuckemeyer with three digs each and Allison Shields with three kills.
The tournament continues today and will finish out Saturday.

Effingham traveled to Mahomet-Seymour and fell in both contests Thursday.
Mahomet-Seymour won the varsity match, 25-21, 25-12.
The Hearts were led by Mckenzie Love with six kills and one ace, Berkley Pullen with 11 assists and one ace, Melia Wendling, Mara Braun and Love with one block each and Sydney Cunningham with five digs.
In the junior varsity match, Mahomet-Seymour was a 25-16, 25-23 winner.
Mahomet-Seymour also won the freshman/sophomore match, 25-13, 25-16.

Newton swept Olney, Richland County Thursday evening.
The Eagles won the freshman match, 26-24, 25-17 and the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-15.
In the varsity contest, Olney won the opener 26-24 but Newton came back with 25-18, 25-11 counts for the match.
Schafer led the way in digs with 14 and aces with four. Probst had seven kills. Wagner led in assists with 13. Meinhart had four blocks.
The Eagles are now 16-12 and return to action Saturday in the Edwards County (Albion) Tournament.
