Effingham St. Anthony played host to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg as two National Trail Conference volleyball teams clashed Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs pulled out a three-set varsity victory to remain unbeaten in the NTC with an 8-0 record.
St. Anthony won the opener 25-19 but Windsor/Stew-Stras battled back with a 25-22 second set win. St. Anthony then easily took the final set 25-12 for the match.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs were Madelyn Gilmore with 29 assists, two aces and two blocks, Cara Hatton with 18 kills and 22 digs, Reese Hoene with two aces and Sophia Emmerich and Audrey Lasarge with two blocks each.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Kendra Hayes with two aces, Mya Friese with 14 kills, Brinlie Durbin with 27 assists, one solo block and two block assists and Zaida Wascher with 13 digs.
“I’m pretty disappointed in how we played tonight,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “We can play teams like Cissna Park and St. Thomas More so well and come here and don’t even come close to playing at that level. We just totally fell part in set three for no reason so yeah, I’m not happy with that at all. Hopefully, we’ll see them again and can prove we really are better than this.”
St. Anthony also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19. WSS dropped to 14-3. The two teams split freshman/sophomore matches. St. Anthony won 27-25 before WSS won 25-23.

Teutopolis captured the varsity contest over Vandalia by 25-22, 25-12 scores Tuesday.
Gabby Tegler led the Shoes in digs with 15 and aces with four while Kaylie Jordan had 13 assists and 16 points, Elise Pals and Marie Zumbahlen four kills each and Madison Miller with three blocks.
T-town also won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-14 and the freshmen split. Vandalia won 25-22 and T-town came back with a 22-19 victory.

At St. Elmo
Altamont got its third straight victory coming away with a three-set win over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-14, 14-25, 25-18 Tuesday.
The Indians got off to a hot start in the first set taking a commanding 8-3 lead and later extended that lead to 15-8 and went on for a 25-14 win. The two teams traded points to start the third set, but Altamont slowly took control moving into a 16-11 lead and went on a 9-7 run for the 25-18 victory.
Altamont was led by Riley Rippetoe and Laila Hankins with three blocks each, Hope Roedl with 23 digs, Bella Hollinshead with eight kills and Avery Fleeharty with 14 assists.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Peyton Barker with six kills and 10 digs, Presley Williams with six kills, Addie Sasse with 12 assists and Chloe Austin with one block.

South Central defeated Sandoval in two sets Tuesday, 26-24, 25-8.
Sophie Wodtka led in assists with 11 for the Cougars while Bailey Wodtka had seven kills. Maddie Peddicord and Addisyn Sigrist led in digs with three each and River Yingst had four aces.
South Central is 9-12 on the season.
In the junior varsity match, South Central won 25-3, 25-7 and is now 9-4.
South Central returns to action ag Neoga Thursday.

Newton claimed the junior varsity match but fell to Mount Carmel in varsity play.
Mount Carmel won in two sets, 25-17, 25-11. The Eagles dropped to 14-11 on the season.
Meinhart, Hermann and Probst led in aces with one each. Schackmann had 11 kills and one block. Meinhart and Pitcher also had one block. Hermann led in digs with 18 and Shull led in assists with 17.
In the junior varsity contest, Newton won 25-18, 25-10. The two teams split in freshman/sophomore pay. Mount Carmel won 25-21 and Newton won 25-9.
Newton is back in action at Marshall Thursday.

Cumberland came calling and was a winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday evening.
The Pirates won the opener 25-20 but CHBC came back with a 25-18 victory. Cumberland then claimed the match, 25-18.
Mia Holsapple led Cumberland in kills with seven, blocks with two and aces with three. Hannah Shoemaker also had two blocks and three aces. Alysa Dittamore led in assists with 19 and aces with three. Madelyn McElravy, Leah Gray and MacKenzie Claybaugh had five digs each.
CHBC was led by Allison Shields with nine kills, Jalizah Bowlin with three aces, Gracie Wright with 17 assists, Zoe Sarver with one block and Timber Watson with 14 digs.
CHBC was a winner in the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-17.
