TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School claimed a volleyball victory over St. Joseph-Ogden Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes lost the opening set, 25-22 but came back with 25-22, 25-15 wins for the match. Madison Miller led the Wooden Shoes with five blocks and 10 kills. Marie Zumbahlen also had 10 kills. Kaylie Jordan led in assists with 24. Ella Tarter had 18 digs.

The Wooden Shoes fell to St. Joseph-Ogden in the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-14 to drop to 4-1 on the season.

The T-town freshman split with St. Joseph-Ogden. The Shoes won 25-17 while St. Joseph was a 27-25 winner.

T-town will return to action Saturday in the Sullivan Tournament.

At Teutopolis

At Toledo

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg continued its winning ways. The victim this time was Cumberland as the Hatchets won the varsity match, 25-19, 25-11.

“We struggled with passing in set one and couldn’t run our middles like we should have,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “But we controlled it better in set two. Cumberland has nice aggressive serves so I’m happy to see the girls were able to make the adjustments that were needed.”

Zaida Wascher led in digs with 13 for the winners. Brinlie Durbin had 12 assists. Mya Friese led in kills with six and Kendra Hayes had four aces.

Winsdor/Stew-Stras improved to 3-0.

Cumberland was led by Alysa Dittamore with eight assists and eight digs, MacKenzie Claybaugh with four kills, Sadie Colnar and Dittamore with one block each and Madelyn McElravy with two aces. The Pirates dropped to 2-2 on the season. The Pirates will be back in action Saturday at the Altamont Tournament.

In junior varsity play, Windsor/Stew-Stras and Cumberland split due to the time limit. The Hatchets won 25-6 while Cumberland was a 22-20 winner.

The freshman/sophomore contest went to Windsor/Stew-Stras, 25-19, 25-11.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was a winner over South Central as two National Trail Conference teams squared off Thursday.

The Eagles were winners in two sets, 25-20, 25-21. The Cougars dropped to 1-7 on the season.

Leading South Central were Addisyn Sigrist with five digs, Lauren Johnson with five kills and River Yingst with 10 assists.

Mount Zion came to town for an Apollo Conference match and handed Effingham a loss in three sets.

The Braves won the opener 25-21. Effingham came back with a 25-22 count but Mount Zion pulled out the win, 25-19.

Effingham was led by Mara Braun with five kills and six blocks, Berkley Pullen had 18 assists and two aces and Averie Wolfe had seven digs.

Effingham was a winner in junior varsity action, 25-20, 25-19.

The Hearts also won the freshman/sophomore match, 25-18, 19-25, 15-8.

Ramsey came calling and claimed a victory in both varsity and junior varsity play over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday.

Ramsey was a winner in the varsity match, 25-7, 29-27.

CHBC was led by Ethel Stuckemeyer and Allison Shields with four kills each, Shields had one block. Timber Watson with one ace, Gracie Wright with 12 assists and Timber Watson had nine digs and one ace.

In junior varsity play, Ramsey won, 23-25, 23-18, 15-10.

Dieterich fell to Marshall in varsity action Thursday.

Dieterich claimed the opening set, 25-21 but Marshall came back with 25-16, 25-15 runs for the win.

Allie Uthell led the Maroons with four aces and four blocks. Bailey Brummer had seven kills. Mariah Muhs and Lydia Wohltman had five digs each. Lydia Fuesting led in assists with seven
