NEWTON — Newton put together 155.5 points to win its own Lady Eagle Track Invitational Monday.
The Eagles were followed by Effingham 110, Robinson 91.5, Teutopolis 75.5, Fairfield 70, Mattoon 69, Richland County, Olney 62, North Clay 32.5, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 29 and Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville.
Newton was a winner in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:49.26. Team members were Makayla McVicar, Morgan Schafer, Sydney Kinder and Stella Schackmann. The Eagles were tough in the relays, taking second in the 4×100 in 52.36, 4×400 in 4:21.62 and the 4×800 in 10:33.29.
The Eagles finished with four individual championships. Stella Schackmann was a winner in the 200 with a time of 27.81 seconds. She also took third in the 100 and high jump.
In the field events, Sydney Kinder won the triple jump at 10.73 meters. Camryn Martin won the pole vault at 11 feet and Karasyn Martin finished second at 10-6. Ava Earnest was a winner in the shot at 8.40 meters.
Layna Marshall took second in the 1600 in 5:49.27 and second in the 3200 in 13:00.22. Maddie Brummer was second in the discus at 101-07. K. Martin was third in the 100 hurdles in 18.11 and C. Martin third in the 400 at 1:04.10. Audrey Beals finished third in the high jump at 1.42.
Effingham was a winner in the 4×400 relay in 4:10.90 minutes. Baylee Summers, Macy Kirk, Jessica Larsen and Drew Weis competed. The Hearts also claimed the championship of the 4×800 relay in 10:21.46. Team members were Summers, Morgan Springer, Weis and Larsen.
Camdyn Burgholzer won the high jump at 1.52 meters. Keagyn Koenig claimed the shot with a heave of 10.85 meters.
Larsen finished second in the 800 in 2:20.80 and Weis was second in the 400 in 1:01.77. Burgholzer finished third in the 300 in 52.15. Kylie Pryor was third in the pole vault at 10 feet.
North Clay’s Brooke Koelm broke a school record in the 3200 with a first place finish and a time of 12:10.79. Also breaking a school record and taking first was Karsyn Gaddy in the discus with a throw of 107 feet.
Teutopolis had a second place finisher as Taylor McMahon took that spot in the high jump at 1.42. Ella Neihls also finished second in the triple jump at 10.53. Emma Isley took third in the 200 in 28.27.
