PEORIA — Stewardson-Strasburg captured the championship of the Class 7-2A Boys State Track Meet Saturday at EastSide Centre.
Stew-Stras tallied 69 points to win the title over 48 teams. Effingham St. Anthony tied for fourth with 27 while Altamont was sixth with 24, South Central 19th with nine and Cumberland 33rd with four.
Stew-Stras had several champions. Jacob Duncan won the shot with a heave of 13.35 meters and also claimed the discus championship with a toss of 41.83 meters.
Adam Pruemer won the long jump at 5.61 meters.
Also capturing a State championship was Effingham St. Anthony’s Grayson Bloemer in the pole vault with a vault of 3.40 meters.
In the eighth-grade boys State Meet, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was 15th with 13 points followed by Stewardson-Strasburg and Effingham St. Anthony tied for 39th with three points each and Cumberland 49th with one point.
