 St. Anthony’s Mossman, Trupiano claim No. 1 Doubles Championship At Robinson

ROBINSON — Effingham St. Anthony High School’s Manaye Mossman and Joey Trupiano captured the championship of the Robinson No. 1 doubles Saturday.

Mossman/Trupiano won their opener over Effingham’s Wilson/Filippi, 6-0, 6-1 then defeated Teutopolis’ Lee and Thompson, 6-1, 6-4. They won the championship by downing Olney’s Kocher/Seaman, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-5.

T-town’s Lee and Thompson won over Robinson’s Wernz/Poorman, 6-1, 6-4 then lost to St. Anthony. That dropped the Wooden Shoes team into the third place match where they defeated Casey-Westfield’s Hancock/Winnett, 3-6, 6-1, 10-5.

Effingham’s Wilson/Filippi lost to St. Anthony then fell to Robinson’s Wernz /Poorman, 8-4.

The No. 2 doubles team of Connor Eggers and Ethan Karolewicz finished fifth. The pair lost to T-town’s Habing/Huber, 6-4, 6-3 then won over Robinson’s Schmidt/Meese, 8-4 and took fifth place with a victory over Paris’ Landsaw/Serbin, 8-4.

T-town’s Habing/Huber won over St. Anthony’s Karolewicz/Eggers, 6-4, 6-3 then fell to Casey-Westfield’s Tutewiler/Sullivan, 6-7, 6-1, 10-8.

That dropped the Teutopolis team into the third place match against Newton’s Bigard/Bigard and there was no report on the final score.

In the No. 3 doubles, Jackson Schultz and Max Gillenwater also finished fifth. The pair lost to Spraker/Fann of Casey-Westfield, 4-6, 6-1, 10-3 before winning over Kellams and Jones of Effingham, 9-1 then won over Michl/Shamhart of Newton, 8-4.

T-town’s Heuerman/Lewis won over Robinson’s Herr/Fearday, no score reported. They then defeated Paris’ Brinkerhoff/Svendsen, no score reported. They advanced to the championship match to meet Olney’s Weidner/Hefferman and lost , 6-0, 6-3 to finish second.

Effingham’s Kellams/Jones lost to Olney’s Weidner/Hefferman, 6-1, 6-0. They dropped into the consolation bracket and lost to St. Anthony’s Gillenwater/Schultz, 8-1.

 

Friday’s Match

Effingham St. Anthony defeated Greenville, 8-1 in a regular season Friday match.

Mossman claimed the No. 1 singles contest, 6-4, 7-5 and combined with Joey Trupiano to win the No. 1 doubles contest, 6-2, 6-4.

Alec Hakman took the No. 3 match, 2-6, 6-0, 10-8 while Jackson Schultz won at No. 4, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Connor Eggars and Ethan Karolewicz were winners at No. 5 and No. 6. Eggars won 6-3, 6-3 while Karolewicz won 6-3, 6-2.

Karolewicz and Eggars won the No. 2 doubles, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5. Schultz and Hakman combined to win the No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-4.
