Teutopolis wins championship of the Centralia Annie Tennis Invitational.
CENTRALIA — Teutopolis High School’s tennis team competed in the Centralia Annie Tennis Invitational Saturday and captured the team championship.
Highland came in second and Centralia third.
T-town’s Amy Probst and Abbie Lee were champions of the No. 1 doubles flight.
Adi Davidson and Allie Ruholl combined for the championship of the No. 2 doubles flight.
Lily Stortzum was the champion of the No. 2 singles flight.
Avery Probst finished fourth in the No. 1 singles flight.
At Champaign
Effingham St. Anthony competed in the Champaign Centennial Charger Doubles Tournament Saturday.
Mia Kinkelaar and Ellie Link won the No. 1 doubles. The two downed Taylor Diep and Ria Modi of Champaign Centennial, 6-1, 6-2; Katherine Brewer and Isabella Gusso of Dunlap, 6-4. 7-5 and Katherine Niles and Alexis Niles of Maroa, 6-3 , 7-5.
The No. 2 doubles team of Liv Hoene and Nora Trupiano had a first round bye and then won over Rachel Mies and Sarah Syed of Dunlap, 6-1, 6-4 and Ella Sandren and Sarah Qureshi of Maroa, 7-5 (4), 6-3 for the championship.
The No. 4 doubles team of Gabby Kabbes and Morgan Stephens finished third.
The pair won over Audrey Bradbury and Alivia Murphy of Robinson, 6-0, 6-4, lost to Leila Parastaran and Annabella Villanti of Champaign Central, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 12-14 and won over Nora Buckley and Madison Farber of St. Joseph-Ogden, 6-1, 6-1 to finish third.
The No. 3 doubles team of Avery Jones and Rylan Boggs lost to Avery Crocker and Alexandra Leek of Robinson, 6-1, 6-3 then won over Nathalee Abad and Romi Savig of Champaign Centennial 6-0, 6-1 and Avarie Dietiker and Audie Heifrich of St. Joseph-Ogden, 6-2, 6-2 to finish fifth.
