 Altamont’s Lemke Throws Another No-hitter, EHS, St. Anthony, WSS, S. Central Nab Softball Victories

NEOGA — Grace Lemke was just one statistic away from throwing a perfect game Monday as Altamont blanked Neoga, 3-0 in softball competition.

Lemke tossed a no-hitter, did not give up a walk and struck out 21. The statistic that kept her from a perfect game, was a hit batter.

Altamont moved into a 3-0 lead in the second inning and that was all the scoring in the contest.

Altamont had seven hits led by Sophia Long with two singles and two RBI, Laila Hankins with two singles and Madison Tonn with a single and an RBI.

Neoga’s Hannah Propst threw a seven-hitter with no walks while striking out 10.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but that didn’t last long as Effingham edged ahead 3-2 in the top of the second then went on for an 11-3 victory Monday.

The Hearts finished with nine hits led by Mya Harvey with a home run and two RBI while Madison Kirk added a single and double. Jerzi Bierman added two singles while Bria Beals and Alyssa Martin finished with a single and two RBI each. Ryley Engel and Maci Hayes added a single and an RBI each. Harvey, Martin and Natalie Armstrong drew two walks each.

Meanwhile, Saige Althoff went the distance on the mound. She gave three runs on eight hits, three walks while striking out six.

T-town was led in hitting by Mallory Bloemer with a double and Malea Helmink and Jersey Gaddis with two singles and an RBI each.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony put together an 11-hit attack and tallied a 14-2 victory over Dieterich in five innings Monday.

The Bulldogs finished with five extra base hits. Julia Schultz led the way with two singles, a home run and five RBI. Camille Wines added two singles, a double and an RBI while Jackie Vonderheide had a home run and three RBI and Ella Johnson a solo homer. Adysen Rios contributed a double and an RBI and Ava Faber an RBI.

Nancy Ruholl went four innings for the pitching victory. She allowed two runs on two hits, one walk and seven strikeouts.

Dieterich was led by Callie Faller with a single, double and two RBI.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg put this game away in the first inning. The Hatchets tallied 14 runs and went on for an 18-0 victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown in four innings Monday.

Samantha Hayes tossed two innings for the win in the mound. She gave up no runs on no hits, one walk while striking out three. Kendra Hayes threw an inning with three strikeouts and Mya Friese went the final inning giving up two hits.

The Hatchets finished with 14 hits led by Cameron Carey with a single, two doubles while driving in five runs. M. Friese had two doubles and drove in two runs while Clarissa Johnson added a single and double. S. Hayes had a single and three RBI and Ella Wittenberg two singles and an RBI. Grace Mast and K. Hayes added a single and an RBI each. Zaida Wascher finished with a single and drove in two runs while Katelyn VonBehrens added an RBI.

St. Elmo/Brownstown had two hits, singles by Macey Sapp and Alivia Claycomb.

At Strasburg

South Central stepped out to a 3-0 opening inning lead and went on to beat North Clay/Clay City by a 10-1 tally Monday.

The Cougars added on a single run in the second, four in the third and single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Kinlee Thompson went the distance on the mound. She gave up one run on five hits, one walk and struck out nine.

Meanwhile, the Cougars put together 11 hits led by Kyra Swift with four singles, a double and three RBI and Lauren Johnson with two doubles and three RBI. Kaitlyn Swift added a single and an RBI. Thompson and Bri Buchanan added an RBI each.

North Clay/Clay City had five hits and finished with four errors. Faith Jones had a single and double and Ava Fleener a single and an RBI.
