 Windsor/Stew-Stras vs. Neoga For NTC Softball Tourney Title, Final Schedule Set For Today

The finals are set for the National Trail Conference Softball Tournament.

Four games were contested Thursday with Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and Neoga advancing to the championship game.

Top-seeded Windsor/Stew-Stras downed No. 4 St. Anthony, 13-7.

The Hatchets moved into a 4-0 opening inning lead and was never overtaken, leading 7-2 after four and pushing across five runs in the fifth.

There were a total of 24 hits between the two teams in the game. The Hatchets finished with 13 of those led by Kendra Hayes with a double, home run and an RBI while Claire Holland had three singles and an RBI. Makenna Corrie added two singles and an RBI while Kinsley Dunaway finished with a single and five RBI. Mya Friese added two singles. Kalia Friese, Grace Mast and Cameron Carey finished with a single and an RBI each. Clarissa Johnson added an RBI.

Hayes went the seven innings on the mound. She gave up seven runs, 11 hits, three walks and struck out one.

St. Anthony was led by Mallory Litz with a single, double, home run and three RBI. Julia Schultz added a single, double and three RBI. Lilly Gannaway had a single and an RBI. Jackie Vonderheide had a double and Lily Hardiek had two singles.

Sixth-seeded Neoga advanced to the championship game with a 10-4 victory over No. 2 seeded Cumberland, 10-4.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 in the fourth inning. Neoga then broke free with an 8-2 run in the fifth inning and that’s where the scoring ended.

The Indians finished with 14 hits led by Joslyn Brandenburg with two singles and a double while Hannah Propst added two doubles and an RBI. Madelynn Frankie finished with three singles and an RBI while Maleah Coy and Chloe Frankie had two singles each. Coy had two RBI. EmmaRee McTeer and Keeli McKay had a single and two RBI each while Reyna Coy and Kenley Westendorf had an RBI each.

Propst went the seven innings giving up four runs on 11 hits. She did not walk a batter and struck out nine.

Cumberland was led by Lauren Schnepper with two singles and a triple, Kinley McMechan with a triple and an RBI, Kada Miles with a single, double and an RBI, Jude Miller with two singles and an RBI, Ashton Tolen with two singles and Shelby Kingery with a single and an RBI.

Cumberland dropped into the third place contest against St. Anthony at 4:15 p.m. today.

In game eight, Dieterich handed St. Elmo/Brownstown a 6-2 loss behind 11 hits.

The Maroons trailed St. Elmo/Brownstown 1-0 until the fourth when they tied. Dieterich then had a four-run fifth and finished with a run in the sixth.

Aliza Garner led the way as Dieterich had 11 hits. Garner had a single, triple and an RBI while Kinley Will had four singles and an RBI. Lexie Funneman added a double.

Allison Boerngen went the distance on the mound. She gave up two runs on three hits. She did not walk a batter and struck out six.

The Eagles were led by Brooklyn Landrus with a double and an RBI and Izzy Orr with two singles. Dayana Haslett added an RBI.

Dieterich moved into the consolation championship game at 4:15 p.m. today.

South Central claimed a 6-3 victory over Altamont to also move into the consolation championship.

Altamont held a 1-0 lead until the third when South Central scored four runs. The Cougars pushed their lead to 6-1 in the fifth. Altamont came back with single runs in the sixth and seventh but fell short.

South Central was led in hitting by Emmie Ruholl with two singles, a double and two RBI and Kinlee Thompson with a single and two RBI.

Lauren Johnson went all seven innings, giving up three runs on four hits, three walks and struck out eight.

Avery Fleeharty led Altamont with a single and two RBI and Haley Arend two singles.

Today’s games are: Dieterich against South Central at 4:15 p.m. in the consolation championship, St. Anthony and Cumberland meet at 4:15 p.m. in the third place game and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg vs. Neoga at 6:15 p.m. for the championship at Evergreen Park.
