TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Wooden Shoes edged Mount Zion, 4-3 in high school softball action Tuesday.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 after the first inning. Mount Zion moved into a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth only to see Teutopolis come right back in the fifth to tie the score.

The Wooden Shoes then had a walk-off bottom of the seventh. Malea Helmink hit a double to the fence and Chloe Hoene followed with a double to score Helmink.

Helmink and C. Hoene finished with big games offensively. Helmink had a single, two doubles and an RBI while C. Hoene had two doubles, a home run and three RBI.

Alyssa Tipton went the distance on the mound for the win. She gave up three runs on five hits, walked six and struck out four.

At Teutopolis

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Dieterich by a 7-0 count Tuesday.

The Hatchets moved into a 2-0 lead in the second inning then had a two-run fifth and a three-run sixth.

Meanwhile, Kendra Hayes was keeping Dieterich off the bases. She tossed a three-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts.

Kalia Friese had the only extra base hit for the Hatchets with a triple and an RBI. Cameron Carey had two singles and two RBI and Mya Friese and Claire Holland had two singles and an RBI each. Makenna Corrie added an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Kinley Will with a double.

At Strasburg

At Altamont

Cumberland traveled to Altamont and pounded out 13 hits for a 16-1 victory in four innings Tuesday.

The Pirates moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead, tacked on two more in the second then had a nine-run third and a three-run fourth.

Ava Long led the way for the Pirates with a single, home run and three RBI while Jude Miller and Lauren Schnepper had a single, double and two RBI each. Mia Holsapple had a double and Ashton Tolen two singles. Kada Miles added two singles and an RBI, Shelby Kingery finished with a single and an RBI and Kinley McMechan two RBI.

Altamont had two hits, a double by Cecilia Pearcy and a single and an RBI by Adilyn Schnarre.

Holsapple went the distance on the mound giving up one run on two hits, one walk and striking out four.

Cecilia Pearcy had a double and Schnarre a single and an RBI for Altamont.

Newton pushed across a run in the second inning and went on for a 7-1 victory over Hutsonville/Palestine Tuesday.

The Eagles finished with eight hits in the contest that included three home runs. Jacee Dhom had two of those home runs and finished with four RBI. Allie Hermann added the other home run, a solo shot. Claire Probst finished with three singles and two RBI while Jorjia Reich had a single and double.

Lexie Ghast went six innings for the pitching victory. She gave up one run on three hits, three walks and struck out seven.

At Hutsonville

Odin came calling and claimed a 16-6 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday.

Odin edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning then had a three-run fourth, a seventh-run fifth, a four-run sixth and tacked on a final run in the seventh.

Ryleigh Sarver led CHBC with a single, home run and three RBI while Allison Shields had a single and double. Harper Lilly added a double and Jordyn Dilley a single and two RBI. Brylie Prater had three hits.

At Cowden

Lawrenceville came calling at North Clay and went home with a 12-2 victory Tuesday.

North Clay dropped to 1-6 on the season and returns to action Thursday against Brownstown/St. Elmo at 4:30 p.m.
