TEUTOPOLIS — Altamont took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning and held that until the fifth during a high school softball contest Friday.
But Teutopolis bats started to rattle and the Wooden Shoes scored five in the fifth and three in the sixth for an 8-1 victory.
Alyssa Tipton went the distance on the mound, giving up only two hits, two walks while striking out 16.
T-town had nine hits led by Kera Hartke with three singles and an RBI. Chloe Hoene had a double and an RBI and Kylie Borries a double. Malea Helmink chipped in with a single and two RBI.
Altamont was led by Laila Hankins with a home run and an RBI. The only other hit was a single by Ella Nelson.

At Newton
Cumberland and Newton were tied at 1-1 in the second inning Friday. Cumberland moved ahead 3-1 in the third but the Eagles came back to tie at 3-3 in the fourth.
Both teams scored single runs in the fifth. But Cumberland finally broke the tie for good with two runs in the sixth and finished with one in the seventh for a 7-4 victory.
The Pirates banged out 10 hits in the contest. Jude Miller finished with a single, double and two RBI for the winners. Ashton Tolen, Ava Long and Jade Carr had two singles each. Carr added an RBI. Kada Miles had a single and an RBI and Lauren Schnepper had an RBI. Kinley McMechan had two RBI.
Newton tallied seven hits led by Claire Probst and Jorjia Reich with two singles each. Allie Hermann had a single and an RBI and Reich finished with two RBI.
Holsapple went all seven innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, walking eight and striking out two in the victory.
