SIGEL — Martinsville ended Neoga’s dreams of a regional championship by capturing a 7-1 victory in the Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Regional Saturday.

Martinsville moved into a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning and tacked on the final two runs in the seventh.

Neoga could muster only one hit, a single by Mackie White.

Meanwhile, Martinsville had seven hits and Neoga finished with three errors.

Martinsville will now advance to the Hutsonville Sectional Tuesday and will face South Central at 4:30 p.m.

Class 1A Albion Regional

South Central came out a 6-1 winner over Dieterich in the Albion Regional Saturday.

South Central had two-run innings in the first, third and sixth. Dieterich scored its lone run in the bottom of the third.

The winners finished with eight hits led by Bella McDowell with a single, home run and three RBI while Skylar Webster had a single and triple, Rya Sidwell a single and two RBI and Rylan Williams a single and an RBI.

Williams picked up the pitching victory. She went 3.1 innings allowing one run on two hits, five walks and striking out two.

Dieterich was led by Lydia Kreke with two singles.

South Central advances to meet Martinsville at the Hutsonville Sectional Tuesday at 4:30 pm.

Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Cumberland  was a winner in the Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional Saturday.

The Raiders won 8-2 over host Casey-Westfield.

Cumberland advances to the Teutopolis Sectional Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. to meet Robinson Nuttall.

 

Class 2A Robinson Nuttall Regional.

Jasper County saw its season come to a close in the Robinson Nuttall Regional Saturday.

Robinson Nuttall blanked Jasper County 10-0.

Nuttall now advances to the Teutopolis Sectional  Tuesday to meet Cumberland at 4:30 p.m.

 

Class 2A Altamont Regional

Pana edged Greenville 3-2 to win the championship of the Altamont Regional Saturday.

Pana will now head to the Auburn Sectional Tuesday to take on Staunton at 4:30 p.m.

 

Class 3A Mount Zion Regional

Effingham High School trailed Mount Zion 5-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning Saturday

That’s where the Mustangs broke loose, scoring seven runs to pull out a 10-8 victory.

Effingham outhit the Braves by a 10-9 count and committed one less error.

Anna Gouchenouer finished with a single, triple and three RBI while Cloie Bailey and Madalyn Hoffman added a single, double and two RBI each. Tinley Patton and Sophia Wiedman finished with a single and an RBI each. Liv Lauritzen chipped in with an RBI.

Bailey came on to toss the final two innings for the win on the mound. She gave up four runs on five hits, two walks and struck out two. Kendyl Smith tossed five innings allowing four runs on four hits, five walks and striing out five.

Effingham is now 16-1 on the season and advances to face Mahomet-Seymour (12-3) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Tolono Unity Sectional.
