Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg won over St. John in junior high softball competition Friday.
St. John moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead and led 4-0 after two. They moved ahead 5-0 in the top of the third.
But here came Windsor/Stew-Stras. The Hatchets tallied two runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to move ahead 6-5 then put the game away with a three-run sixth for the 9-5 victory.
The winners had seven hits led by Miranda Corrie with a single, triple and an RBI, Maddy Manhart with two singles and three RBI, KJ Althoff with two singles and an RBI and Reese Stigers with a single and two RBI.
Corrie picked up the pitching win. She came on in relief in the third and went five innings, giving up one run, one hit, four walks while striking out 11.
At Strasburg

Altamont was a 13-1 winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in Friday play.
Altamont took the opening inning lead 2-1 and never looked back, ending this game in the fifth.
The winners had 12 hits led by Payton Ort with three singles, a home run and three RBI, Teegan Burrus with a single, triple and an RBI and Olivia Bowman and Zoey Kraemer with two singles each. Zoey Storck added a single and an RBI.
CHBC was led by Elli Wheeler with two singles and an RBI.
At Cowden

Effingham trailed Cumberland 3-1 after the opening inning of a junior high softball game Saturday. But the Mustangs came back to take a 12-7 victory.
The Mustangs moved ahead 4-3 in the second and never looked back. They had an 11-hit attack led by Madelyn Hoffman with a single, two doubles and an RBI. Miley Wilson added a triple and three RBI. Mackynzie Hites added two singles and three RBI while Tinley Patton had two singles and two RBI and Cloie Bailey two singles. Mollie Niemerg finished with an RBI.
Bailey was the winning pitcher. She went five innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits. But she did not allow a walk and struck out eight.
At Effingham

The Falcons had four hits. Ophie Lowry led the way with two singles. Claire Chasteen had the lone RBI of the game.
Rylan Williams tossed a six-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts.
South Central then downed Richland County by an 11-1 tally in five innings.
The Falcons finished with 11 hits. Skylar Webster and Alexa Gile had a single, double and two RBI each. Williams had a double. Lexy Garrett added two singles and an RBI and Chasteen two singles and an RBI. Jayda Neilson and Lowry finished with a single and an RBI each.
Webster went five innings allowing one run on two hits, one walk and striking out 11.

Paris Crestwood came calling and was a 23-11 winner over Effingham St. Anthony Saturday.
The Bullpups took a 2-0 opening inning lead but Crestwood tied in the top of the second. St. Anthony moved ahead 8-2 in the bottom of the second. However, Crestwood came roaring back with 14 runs in the third inning and that was the game.
St. Anthony finished with five hits and five errors. Mary Hoke had three singles and an RBI while Isabelle McDonald added single and two RBI. Lily Bloemer had a single and an RBI. Morgan Lustig and Taylor Huebner added an RBI each.

Sullivan blanked the Wooden Shoes 2-0. T-town had one hit, a single by Addisyn Meyer.
Sullivan held a 1-0 opening inning lead and tallied the second run in the fifth.
Taylorville claimed an 11-3 victory over the Shoes.
T-town held a 1-0 lead in the first and led 2-0 in the top of the second. But Taylorville came back with a six-run bottom of the second and went on for the victory.
The Shoes had two hits, singles by Emma Wells and Danielle Probst. Probst and Kennedi Hartke had an RBI each.
