ALTAMONT — Cumberland edged out to a 1-0 lead on Altamont in junior high softball action Tuesday and went on to win by an 8-0 count.
Cumberland tallied the rest of its runs in the third inning behind an eight-hit attack and six errors by Altamont.
The Raiders were led by Leah McMechan, Lilly McMechan and K. Heuerman with two singles and an RBI each. Brylee Holsapple had a single and an RBI.
Lilly McMechan was the winning pitcher. She went six innings allowing one run on one hit, two walks and striking out 11.
Altamont had two hits, singles by Teegan Burrus and Addison Neu.

At Cowden
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg trailed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 7-6 after three innings before busting the game wide open with a 16-run fourth inning and tallied a 22-7 victory Tuesday.
The winners finished with eight hits led by Reese Stigers with two singles, a triple and six RBI, Gia Bostedo with a single, double and two RBI, Izzy Manhart with a single and two RBI and Laney Barnard with a single and an RBI.
WSS took advantage of 15 walks. Miranda Corrie had two RBI and Callie Holland, KJ Althoff, Briley Rincker and Gracyn Montgomery finished with an RBI each.
Holland came on to pick up the win on the mound. She finished the last 2.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits, three walks while striking out five.
The Bobcats were led in hitting by Anna Hart with a single and triple, Hadley Pope and Jadyn Wright with a single and two RBI each and Elli Wheeler with a single and an RBI.

Neoga produced 10 hits and turned that into a 12-6 victory over Sigel St. Michael Tuesday.
Kinzie Bell led the hitting attack with a single, two doubles, a home run and three RBI. Bliss Bear added a home run and two RBI and Nora Hartke finished with a double, triple and two RBI. Lucy Haarman had a single and two RBI.
Mackie White went the distance, giving up six runs, five earned, on nine hits and two walks. She struck out nine.
The Sharpshooters were led in hitting by Korie Lynn Robertson with a single, home run and two RBI, Brianna Niebrugge with a home run and two RBI, Josie Niemerg with a single and an RBI and Makenna Gaddis with two singles.

Vandalia edged into a 3-2 lead in the second inning and went on for an 18-2 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday.
The Vandals had 10 hits and were aided by 15 St. Elmo/Brownstown errors.
