TOLEDO — Cumberland played host to Dieterich and picked up a 9-5 victory in junior high softball competition Tuesday.
Cumberland edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead but Dieterich came roaring back with a five-run second then moved into a 5-1 lead by the fourth inning.
Cumberland had nine hits.
Dieterich finished with eight hits led by Lydia Kreke with a single, triple and three RBI, Addison Icenogle and Avery White with two singles each and Alivia Icenogle with a single and an RBI.

At Vandalia
Altamont edged out to a 2-1 lead in the third inning and then had to hold off Vandalia in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-4 victory Tuesday.
The Wildcats took a 2-1 lead in the third then tacked on three runs in the fourth. Vandalia came back with two in the bottom of the sixth and ended with one in the seventh.
Altamont had six hits and was aided by seven Vandalia errors. O. Bowman had a triple and two RBI while Z. Kraemer had two singles. B. Suckow added a single and two RBI and A. Roberts an RBI.
Suckow tossed the five-hitter with four walks and eight strikeouts.
In a Saturday contest, Altamont fell to Greenville by a 17-1 count. Greenville took the 4-1 opening inning lead then ended the game in the third inning.
Altamont had one hit, a triple by Ort.

Neoga put together 14 hits and finished with an 11-5 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday.
The Indians edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and led 3-2 after three. Neoga then had a four-run fourth and a four-run sixth.
Neoga banged out 14 hits in the game led by Bliss Bear with a double, home run and three RBI, Ellie Plummer with four singles and an RBI, Lucy Haarman, Nora Hartke and Kinzie Bell with two singles each. Haarman had an RBI. Addie Eubanks added an RBI.
Bear went the distance on the mound. She gave up five runs on nine hits, four walks while striking out seven.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led offensively by M. Abendroth with a single, double and three RBI, Z. Zerruson with two singles and an RBI and M. Booker with two singles.

Teutopolis blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by a 20-0 count in two innings Tuesday. The game was cut short by lightning. After a 20-minute delay, the game resumed only to end when it stormed again.
