High School softball regionals got underway Monday.
St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up a forfeit victory over Bethany Okaw Valley in the Class 1A Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Regional opener.
St. Elmo/Brownstown will now face Windsor/Stew-Stras at 4:30 p.m. today, weather permitting.
Class 1A Hutsonville Regional
North Clay/Clay City edged Red Hill (Bridgeport) 7-6 in the opening contest of the Hutsonville Regional Monday.
North Clay/Clay City advances to face South Central at 5 p.m. today, weather permitting.
Class 2A Teutopolis Regional
Paris ended Cumberland’s season by handing the Pirates an 8-5 loss Monday.
Paris advances to a meeting with Marshall at 4:30 p.m. today, weather permitting.
Regular Season Games
Effingham trailed Olney, Richland County 3-2 after the first two innings, but the Hearts came back to tie the score at 3-3 in the fourth then had a five-run sixth to claim an 8-3 victory Monday.
The Hearts had nine hits in the contest led by Mya Harvey with a solo home run, Natalie Armstrong with two singles and two RBI, Madison Kirk with two singles and an RBI and Tessa Raddatz, Maci Hayes and Jerzi Bierman with a single and an RBI each.
Saige Althoff came on in the fourth inning and picked up the victory on the mound. She game up one hit and no walks.

At Altamont
Altamont finished regular season play by edging Oblong, 3-2 in Monday action.
Oblong held a 2-0 lead in the fifth before Altamont came back to score three runs in the sixth.
Grace Lemke tossed a one-hitter with one walk while striking out 19.
Ella Nelson and Sophia Long had a double each. Cecilia Pearcy and Sophia Pearcy added two singles each. Madison Tonn contributed a single and an RBI.
The Indians are now 18-9 on the season and will take on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Wednesday in the Class 1A Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Regional.
