Effingham High School’s soccer team defeated Hillsboro by a 4-1 count Wednesday.

Maicol Sefton scored two goals while Alberto Zaragoza and Connor Delong each scored one goal.

Jacob Warner, Camilo Aden and Jake Niebrugge all had one assist each. Goalkeeper Brady Wilson had two saves.

“It was a great win,” said EHS Coach Logan Arney. “Our record is now 16-1-3 with three games left. If we win our final three games, we will break the all-time wins record that was set last year at 18.”

The Hearts return to action today, playing host to Mount Zion in a 4:30 p.m. contest.

“It’s an important game for the Apollo Conference,” said Arney. “We’d love a lot of support from our community to cheer us on as we look to fight for the Apollo championship and continue to break some school records.”
