 Effingham, Teutopolis Capture Soccer Victories

Effingham High School played host to Altamont and sent the visitors home with a 6-1 soccer loss Friday.

“We started off slow but responded well to an early goal by scoring six unanswered goals,” said EHS Coach Logan Arney.

Maicol Sefton ended the game with two goals and two assists for the Hearts. Camilo Aden also put away two goals with one assist. Andrew Wagoner and Connor Delong scored the other two goals. Gage Kinder provided an assist and Brady Wilson ended with one save.

“We look to our next game coming up on Monday as we take on Richland County at home,” said Arney.

 

At Arthur

Teutopolis traveled to Arthur to face the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond squad and captured a 7-1 victory.

Goals were scored by Gavin Buening with two goals, Landyn Buening with a goal, Joey Probst a goal with an assist by Caleb Deters, Simon Lee assisted by Tucker Dhom, Isaac McWhorter assisted by L. Buening and Gus Niemerg assisted by Grant Tegeler.

The Wooden Shoes are now 6-1-2 for the season and will travel to Pana today for a 4:30 p.m. varsity contest followed by a shortened junior varsity match.
