Teutopolis won in both junior varsity and varsity soccer action over Mount Vernon Saturday.
The varsity Shoes were 3-2 winners after PKs. The score was tied at 2-2 at the end of regular and after six shooters, the Shoes won.
Regulation goals were scored by Landyn Buening off a big throw from Isaac McWhorter in the 10th minute. Mount Vernon’s own goal was the 13th minute.
Gavin Buening and Gavin Pals had a save each.. Landyn Buening, Simon Lee, Gus Niemerg and Caleb Deters had made goals.
Goalkeeper Jake Kocher had seven saves including one during PKs.
The varsity Shoes are 4-1-1 on the season.
The junior varsity Shoes were 1-0 winners. The lone goal of the match was a Mount Vernon own goal. Goalkeeper Barrett Meyer had three saves.
The junior varsity squad is now 2-0.
At Altamont
The Vandals of Altamont traveled to Altamont for a varsity contest.
“The sun was shining and the temps were decent,” said Altamont Coach Eric Morales. “We spent no time , getting our first goal four minutes in on a PK from a handball. Vandalia came out strong and played a great game, taking every opportunity they could get. Fortunately we played strong and solid finishing the game 9-0.”
Cooper Pals scored on a PK. Mason Suey scored on an assist from Ashton Buchanan. Aiden Rosales scored on an assist from Cooper Pals. He then scored unassisted and finished with a goal on an assist from Buchanan.
Pals scored a second goal on an assist from Zach Reyes. Micah Tenpenny scored unassisted. Cooper Pals then scored his third goal unassisted before Chase Pals scored unassisted.
The junior varsity also played host to Olney, falling short 3-1. The lone goal was scored by Micah Tenpenny unassisted.
