The Effingham Athletic Department runs an Athlete of the Month program every month. Athletes are nominated by coaches based upon the following criteria: Stats, Accomplishments, Character, Coachability, Leadership and Sportsmanship.
Nominations are then sent out to all high coaches to vote on a winner. There will be one male and one female winner each month. Winners receive a Treign Athlete of the Month shirt and get recognition via announcements and local media.
October 2025 Winners
McKenzie Love, Sr. — Volleyball
“Mckenzie is a force in volleyball this year. She is our leading hitter and blocker. She recorded a record 22 kills in the regional semifinals vs. St Anthony. She has been a dominant server also. Her quickness and strength is unmatched. She is very coachable and shows great sportsmanship at all
times.” — Coach Laurie Bohnhoff
Jack Swingler, Sr. — Boys Golf
“Jack led the golf team to an 8-1 record. He was named to the Apollo Conference team. He finished in the top five in the regional, helped the team reach the sectional tournament. Jack also finished in the top five in the sectional. He finished 34th at the State Tournament which is most likely in the top three finishes in school history. His scoring average for the year was 36.9 for nine holes and 74.0 for 18 hole matches (one of the best of all time). He finished in the top 10 in almost every tournament that we played. He was a model of ultra consistency, He is one of the top five players at EHS in the last 25 years.” — Coach Jeff Schafer
