The Effingham Athletic Department runs an Athlete of the Month program every month. Athletes are nominated by coaches based upon the following criteria:
Stats, Accomplishments, Character, Coachability, Leadership and Sportsmanship.
Nominations are then sent out to all high coaches to vote on a winner with one male and one female winner each month. Winners receive a Treign Athlete of the Month
shirt and get recognition via announcements and local media.
August/September 2025 Winners:
Berkley Pullen, Sr. — Volleyball
“Berkley recorded her 1000th assist this month. She is a leader on our team everyday in practice. Berkley supports her teammates and is our vocal leader on the court in matches. In addition to being a great volleyball player, she is at the top of her class academically.” — Coach Laurie Bohnhoff
Maicol Sefton, Sr. — Soccer
“Maicol has scored 41 goals so far this year already breaking the school record (his record from last year) for goals scored in a season. He is currently ranked top 10 in the nation and second in IL for goals scored. He’s also provided 16 assists which leads the team. He’s been a strong captain this year in his leadership and attitude.” — Coach Logan Arney
