The National Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee is proud to announce the 2025 inductee in the Directors Award of Excellence in Athletics category.

The inductee is Jane Westendorf. In the fall of 1973, Westendorf was instrumental in laying the groundwork and petitioning the school board to introduce girls’ athletics at Teutopolis High School, following the passage of Title IX in 1972.

Her advocacy led to the formation of girls’ tennis and track teams in the 1974-75 school year, girls’ volleyball added in 1977 and girls basketball in 1978-79.

Thanks to Jane’s tireless efforts, girls’ athletics at Teutopolis High School continue to thrive and contribute to the rich tradition of the Wooden Shoes.
