WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Celebration turned into not celebrating after Connor Zilisch won the Mission 200 Xfinity race at Watkins Glen International Sunday.

Zilisch picked up his sixth victory with his No. 88 Chevrolet. But the 19-year-old was in victory lane when he climbed out of his car, slipped and took a tumble. He was taken to the hospital and found out he had a broken collarbone.

Victory lane was jammed with team members spraying beverages. Zilisch climbed out of the car as the beverages were being sprayed and his foot slipped and down he went.

Will he now be ready for the next Xfinity race August 22 at Daytona?

Zilisch and his doctors will be figuring that out.

He was followed by Sam Meyer in second, Sammy Smith in third, Austin Hill in fourth, Carsen Krapil in fifth and Justin Algier in sixth.

In the Go Bowling at Watkins Glen International, Shane van Gisbergen claimed the victory in NASCAR’S premier series.

van Gisbergen’s dad was there to watch his son pick up his fourth win. He now joins Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers to win four consecutive Cup races on road or street courses.

Christopher Bell finished second while Chris Buescher was third.

The Cup Series will race Saturday at Richmond Raceway.
