CARLINVILLE — Bart Seales of Altamont continues to have one of the hottest stables on the Illinois county fair circuit, as his three winners from last week at Carrollton all repeated Tuesday evening in harness racing action at the Macoupin County Fair.
Variant and Fox Valley Barbie swept both divisions of the Illinois Standardbred Association two-year-old filly pace, while Truly A Winner added a victory in her division of the ISA event for sophomore pacing fillies. Cornelius Cavett drove Variant, while Wyatt Avenatti was in the sulky for both Fox Valley Barbie and Truly A Winner.
Seales shares ownership in Fox Valley Barbie with his sister Penny White and trainer Kevin Miller, with Miller also owning an interest in Truly A Winner. Wisconsin resident Wayne Moldenhauer is also a partner on the latter filly.
In other action, co-owner and trainer Harold Finn Jr. of Greenup drove Hidalgo Otis to a win in a division of the ISA race for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings, rallying from 17 lengths off the pace in the final quarter-mile to score by a half-length over pacesetter Send It Emmett. The win was the first ever for Hidalgo Otis, which Finn owns in partnership with his wife, Jacqueline.
The harness racing circuit moves next to the Macon County Fair at Decatur, where the $100,000 Downstate Classic Stakes will be featured today (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m.
