 Teutopolis Boys Win First-Ever State Championship; St. Anthony Finished 7th in Boys, Girls Tourneys

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes won their first-ever boys golf state championship at the D.A. Weibring Course at Illinois State University.

Mike Wilson’s crew finished with a 623 total to defeat Fulton by 11 shots and capture the 1A state title.

Senior Coen Pennington shot an even-par 146 to lead the Shoes and finish second overall. Junior Isaac Weber shot a 155, and sophomore Kade Pennington was one shot back at 156. Junior Owen Kremer finished with a 173 total and junior Mathew Habing finished with a 166 total. Junior Lane Ohnesorge fired an 83 and senior Landyn Thoele shot a 97.

St. Anthony finished seventh in both the boys and girls state tournaments.

The girls finished with a 709 total. Junior Gianna Frisbie shot a 172, junior Brooklyn Phillips a 178, sophomore Tesa Ludwig a 179, sophomore Adria Moberly a 180, and sophomore Lucy Bierman a 206.

Mt. Carmel won the girls state championship.

The Bulldogs’ boys finished with a 616 total…312 on Friday, 304 on Saturday.

Logan Gowin led the way with a 75-73=148. Maddux Clark shot a 81-73=154. Jameson McAllaster shot a 79-78=157. Briggs Whitley shot a 79-82=161 including a hole-in-one on Friday on #17 and finished 11th overall. Alec Hakman shot a 79-83=162. Drake Brown shot an 84-80=164.

Normal U High won the boys 2A state championship.
