 St. Anthony Team, Teutopolis Individuals Advance To Girls State Golf Meet

CHAMPAIGN — Effingham St. Anthony finished second at the Class 1A Girls Golf Sectional at the University of Illinois Course Monday.

Mount Carmel won the event with a 294 followed by St. Anthony 322, Monticello 325, Metropolis Massac County 327, Teutopolis 335, Carlyle 340, Benton 370, Mount Zion 379 and Champaign St. Thomas More 383.

The top three teams advance to the State Tournament and those include Mount Carmel, St. Anthony and Monticello.

The Bulldogs advance as a team. Gianna Frisbie shot a 77 to tie for sixth followed by Adria Moberly 80, Tesa Ludwig 81, Brooklyn Phillips 84, Lucy Bierman 90 and Tenley Sams 90.

Advancing for Teutopolis were Brileigh Bloemer 78 and Molly Habing 79. Halle Bushue did not advance with an 87.

Effingham High School’s Ella Tuman shot an 80 and Makenna Mayhood an 81 and will not advance.

Newton’s Peyton Lindley and Haley Ochs shot an 84 each and will not advance.

North Clay’s Kennedy Jones shot an 83 and does not advance.

Medalist honors went to Zeme Moore of Mount Carmel with a 69.
