 Area Teams, Individuals Advance To Sectionals In Girls Golf

SANDOVAL — Effingham St. Anthony placed second, Teutopolis third and Effingham fifth at the Class 1A Girls Golf Regional at Colonial Golf Course in Sandoval Tuesday.

Carlyle was the team champion with 330 followed by St. Anthony 332, Teutopolis 339, Centralia 345, Effingham 346, Salem 355, Richland County, Olney 435, Ramsey 450, Flora 473, Sandoval 489, Vandalia 493 and Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 515. Newton, North Clay, Dieterich, Altamont, Robinson and Casey-Westfield did not have enough players for a team.

The top three teams in the regional advance and those include Effingham St. Anthony, Teutopolis and Carlyle.

Carlyle’s Abby Steinkamp and Salem’s Mya Russell were medalists with a 71 each.

To advance as an individual if you did not advance with a team, the cutoff is a 91.

Competing for St. Anthony were Adria Moberly who finished sixth with a 78, Brooklyn Philips eighth with an 81, Gianna Frisbie 11th with an 83 and Tesa Ludwig 20th with a 90

Teutopolis players were Brileigh Bloemer eighth with an 81, Halle Bushue and Olivia Wermert who tied for 15th with an 85 each and Brooke Thoele 20th with a 90.

Advancing for Effingham as an individual were Ella Tuman who finished fourth with a 77, Makenna Mayhood 11th with an 83 and Natalie Armstrong 18th with an 88.

Newton’s Peyton Lindley advanced with a 10th place finish shooting an 81 and Haley Ochs, who finished 17th, with an 87.

North Clay’s Kennedy Jones finished 22nd with a 91 and will advance. MacKenzie Winterrowd finished 27th with a 94 but did not advance.

Altamont’s Cecilia Pearcy finished with a 109 and Emma Sphar a 121 and did not advance.

St. Anthony and Teutopolis teams along with Effingham, Newton and North Clay individuals advance to the Monticello Sectional Monday, October 6.
