 St. Anthony Junior High Golf Team Advances To State Tournament

DECATUR — Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School competed at Sectional F in boys golf at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth and qualified for the State Tournament.

The Bullpups captured the team title with a score of 320 led by Grayson Bloemer with a 32-39 — 71 in second place. James Gilmore and Cameron McAllaster tied for third place with an 82 each. Gilmore had a 38-44 — 82 while Cameron finished with a 40-42 — 82. Brooks Niebrugge took ninth place with a 41-44 — 85.

Nash Hoene was in 11th place with a 44-42 — 86 and Beckett Sams took 14th with a 41-46 — 87.

The Bullpups will compete at the State Tournament Friday, September 12 at Metamora Fields.

Effingham Sacred Heart and Teutopolis also had players competing but did not advance anyone to State.

Gabe Traub finished 26th with a 43-51 — 94 while Landon Bierman was 45th with a 54-56 — 110 and Chris Kenter was 81st with a 63-84 — 147 for Sacred Heart.

Competing for Teutopolis were Luke Ziegler 21st with a 48-45 — 93, Jack Sandschafer 30th with a 47-51 — 98, Aiden Funneman 41st with a 54-54 — 108, Mark Lynch 56th with a 54-63 — 117, Kyle Bierman 59th with a 50-71 — 121 and Finley Witges 62nd with a 60-63 — 123.
