 St. Anthony Scores Victory, T-town Wins Varsity, JV Contests In Golf Action

SALEM — Effingham St. Anthony scored a boys golf victory at the Salem Country Club Tuesday.

The Bulldogs tallied a 142-159 win over host Salem.

Logan Gowen was medalist for the Bulldogs with a 32 followed by Drake Brown 36, Maddux Clark 37 and Alec Hakman 37. Non-counters were James Trupiano 38 and Briggs Whitley 41.

Salem was led by Kyler Sapp and Landon Maxey with a 37 each, Scout Puricelli with a 42 and Jaxon Ward with a 43. Eli Lograsso had a 43 and Huck Mulvaney 46.

In junior varsity play, St. Anthony also claimed the victory, 160-182. Jameson McAllaster had a 38, Liam McAllaster a 39, Cole Adams a 40 and Andrew Meyer a 43.

Non-counters were Daniel Ramos 45 and Trenton Sandschafer 47.

 

At Effingham

In a junior varsity match at the Cardinal Golf Course, Teutopolis was a 176-212 winner over Effingham St. Anthony.

T-town’s Ben Sandschafer was medalist with a 40. Also scoring for the Shoes were Drew Kirby 44, Jack Weber 44 and Karson Zerrusen 47. Blake Vahling added a 48 and Gavin Althoff a 50.

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Julius Ramos 50, Gabe Huebner 51, Keegan Overbeck 52 and Marcus Geen 59. Zaden Page shot a 75.

Effingham had two players competing. Owen Nuxoll shot a 45 and Eli Wendling a 55.

 

At Robinson

Teutopolis competed in a triangular at Robinson and was a winner.

The Wooden Shoes tallied a 155 followed by Red Hill/Lawrencevile 172 and Robinson 177.

Coen Pennington was medalist with a 35 followed by Isaac Weber 39, Matthew Habing 39 and Landyn Thoele 42. Others competing were Owen Kremer 43 and Kade Pennington 47.

The Shoes are now 8-0 in nine-hole matches and return to action Friday at the Olney Invitational.

In junior varsity play, Teutopolis tallied a 176-212 victory over St. Anthony. Effingham had two golfers competing.

T-town’s Ben Sandschafer was medalist with a 40. Also scoring were Drew Kirby 44, Jack Weber 44 and Landon Huber 44. Mason Thompson had a 46, Karsen Zerrusen 47, Blake Vahling 48, Jake Probst 49, Xavier Schumacher 50, Bo Kreke 52, Lane Bloemer 53, Dawson Beckman 55, Sam Wente 56, Koen Dasenbrock 57, Hudson Einhorn 59, Gavin Deters 59, Sam Probst 60, Nick Rhodes 61 and Rylan Donsbach 62.

St. Anthony’s Julius Ramos shot a 50 followed by Gabe Huebner 51, Keagan Overbeck 52, Marcus Geen 59 and Zadin Page 72.

Effingham’s competitors were Owen Nuxoll 45 and Eli Wendling 55.

T-town’s JV will be at Sullivan Thursday.

 

At St. Elmo

Altamont played host to Pana, Hillsboro and Newton Tuesday at the St. Elmo Golf Course.

Pana won the meet with a 156 followed by Newton 171, Hillsboro 174 and Altamont 192.

Match medalist was Hillsboro’s Colton Weiss with a 37. Austin Ohmes of Pana got runner-up in a tiebreaker with a 38.

In girls play, Haley Ochs of Newton was medalist with a 44. Runner-up was Newton’s Peyton Lindley with a 48.

Third place went to Altamont’s Cecilia Pearcy with a 57. Also scoring for Altamont was Emma Sphar with a 62.

 

At Oblong

Oblong/Palestine/Hutonsville tallied a victory over three others teams Tuesday.

OPH scored a 171 followed by Marshall 184, Paris 186 and Dieterich 199.

Scoring for Dieterich were Gavin French 43, Gavin Niemerg 50, Hunter Niemerg 52 and Brock Niemerg 54. Mason Niemerg and Logan Gipson also competed.

Junior varsity participants were Levi Wells, Ryerson Zumbahlen, Hugo Iffert and Charlie Albert.

Jacey Hayes, the lone player for Dieterich, scored a 63 in girls play and finished fourth out of 10 players.

Dieterich is back in action today playing North CLay and Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville at the Flora Country Club at 4 p.m.

 

At Robinson

The Teutopolis girls squad competed at Quail Creek Golf Course in Robinson Tuesday and came out a 180-219 winner over Robinson.

T-town’s Olivia Wermert was medalist with a 42. Also scoring for the Shoes were Brileigh Bloemer 44, Brooke Thoele 45 and Halle Bushue 49.

Also competing for the Shoes were Molly Habing 50, Alyssa Tipton 53 and Josie Willenberg 62.
