Breese Mater Dei High School won the Rend Lake Boys Golf Invitational Thursday at the Rend Lake Golf Complex.
Mater Dei tallied a 304 followed by Effingham St. Anthony 314, Teutopolis 316, Belleville Althoff 318, Red Bud 320, Carterville 322, Breese Central 327, Litchfield 334, Benton 335 Anna-Jonesboro 351 and Vandalia 369.
T-town’s Coen Pennington 73, Carson Tribuot of Belleville Althoff and Aidan McFadden (Anna-Jonesboro) 73, were co-medalists with a 73 each followed by Owen Musenbrock (Breese Mater Dei) 75 and Jameson McAllaster (St. Anthony) with a 39-37 — 76 in the top five.
Competing for St. Anthony, along with McAllaster, were Maddux Clark 37-41 — 78, Alec Hakman 41-38 — 79, Drake Brown 43-38 — 81, Briggs Whitley 42-43 — 85 an Cole Adams 46-45 — 91.
Competing for T-town along with Pennington were Isaac Weber 79, Kade Pennington 82, Matthew Habing 82, Owen Kremer 82 and Landy Thoele 89.
At Taylorville
Effingham captured second place out of 14 teams at the Taylorville Invitational Thursday.
Mount Zion won with 309 followed by Effingham 315 and Williamsville 315 in the top three. Effingham won a tiebreaker on Cannon Bockhorn’s fifth score.
Jack Swingler got sixth overall with 76 followed by Leo Wyckoff in ninth with a 79. Brody Boehm had a 79, Jude Traub 80, Cannon Bockhorn 82, Allyn Koester 102 and Owen Nuxoll 105.
Effingham will be back in action Saturday at the St. Anthony Invitational at Indian Springs in Van Buriesbergh near Vandalia at 8:30 a.m.
