NEWTON — Richland County, Olney came calling and handed Newton a 57-34 loss in high school football Friday evening.
The two teams were tied at 14-14 in the opening quarter. Richland moved ahead 21-20 at halftime.
The Tigers then had a 29-14 third quarter run and outscored Newton 7-0 in the final period.
Newton’s offense included Dexter Fulton and Quincy Fulton who scored two touchdowns each. Eli Wolf tallied one touchdown and Henry Will scored two points.
Fulton carried the ball 18 times for 93 yards. Hayden Mulvey carried the ball seven times for 50 yards.
Mulvey completed 18 of 34 passes for 264 yards and four passing touchdowns. Fulton scored two touchdowns with eight receptions for 59 yards. Wolf had one touchdown with two receptions for 19 yards.
Leading defensively was Grayson Lingafelter with four solo tackles and two assists. Wolf with four solo tackles. Ian Kessler had five assists while Harrison Kinkade had four assists.
