 Area Cross Country Runners Advance From Regionals To Sectionals

St. Anthony boys won the Cumberland Cross Country Regional.

TOLEDO — Effingham St. Anthony, Cumberland, Dieterich, Newton and Teutopolis advanced in the Class 1A Cumberland boys cross country regional Saturday to sectionals.

St. Anthony won the meet with 33 points followed by Cumberland 35, Dieterich 121, Newton 125, Robinson 141, Teutopolis 169, Lawrenceville 169, Casey-Westfield 185, Altamont 202, Oblong 245 and Clay City 272.

Cumberland’s Cameron Roedl won the meet with a time of 15:45.8.

The top seven teams and top five individuals, not members of qualifying teams, will advance to the sectional.

St. Anthony team members heading on include Julius Ramos fourth in 16:27, Camden Bloemer fifth in16:34.1, Oliver Kreke seventh in 16:46, Isaac Tays eighth in 16:51.9, Elijah Whittier 12th in 17:03.6 and Jonny Gannaway 43rd in 19;17.3.

Advancing for Cumberland are Cameron Roedl first in 15:45.8, Colby Roedl third in 16:18.5, Gavin Whitaker 10th in 16:58.2, Brett Matusas 11th in 17:00.7, Aydan Oakley 13th in 17:12.4, Damien Chardon 14th in 17:16.2 and Jacob Pierce 35th in 18:48.7

The Cumberland boys advance to sectional action.

Advancing for Dieterich are Trevor Crutcher second in 16:02.4, Sylus Niland 15th in 17:17.7, Jaden Ordner 37th in 18:53.0, Keith Hoelscher 38th in 18:55.7, Tanner Niemerg 42nd in 19:13.5, Cody Landers 50th in 19:47.1 and Weston Goebel 52nd in 19:52.2.

Advancing for Teutopolis are Archer Kitten 30th in 18:37.2, Tyson Brooks 32nd in 18:44.4, Jackson Meyer 34th in 18:46.1, Cole Dasenbrock 36th in 18:52.2, John Pruemer 59th in 20:24.4, Alexander Ghast 60th in 20:25.7 and Jackson Krampe 63rd in 20:33.7.

Advancing for Newton are Hayden Borgic 19th in 17:30.4, Tanner Whitaker 25th in 17:55.6, Holden Barthlemy 27th in 18:17.1, Johnnie Brant 31st in 18:42.9, Alec Bower 39th in 18:56.5, Kendall Probst 47th in 19:31.5 and Wade Ochs 62nd in 20:28.5.

Also advancing is Altamont’s Kelton Dunaway who finished 16th with a time of 17:22.7

In the girls regional, Marshall won with 42 points followed by Newton 59, St. Anthony 69, Robinson 122, Lawrenceville 127, Dieterich 128, Casey-Westfield 162 and Teutopolis 166.

Advancing as teams are Marshall, Newton, St. Anthony, Robinson, Lawrenceville and Dieterich.

Members of the team advancing for St. Anthony were Isabella Keller, who won the regional with a time of 16:35.9. Also, Aubrey Denning who took second in 17:28.9, Emeline Wines seventh in 19:32.8, Nora Niebrugge 23rd in 22:44.9, Nancy Ruholl 43rd in 25:00.2 and Taylor Denning 50th in 25:46.7.

Members of the Newton team advancing are Layna Marshall sixth in 19:21.7, Heather Bergbower ninth in 20:12.9, Avery Geier 13th in 20:55.2, Josie Vogt 14th in 21:07.6, Nora Street 17th in 21:42.1 and Kimberly Bierman 22nd in 22:29.9.

Members of the Dieterich team advancing are Lena Goebel eighth in 19:50.6, Violet Iffert 20th in 22:12.7, Avery Bohnhoff 30th in 23:33.5, Callie Faller 38th in 23:58.5, Allie Wright 44thin 25:03.0 and Allison Boerngen 47th in 25:41.6.

Teutopolis qualifiers were Mary Jane Dennis 27th in 23:28.5 and Abigail Zane 28th in 23:30.4.

Paula Hohn of Neoga finished 19th in 22:12.7 and qualifies. Also competing for Neoga were Molly Moran 36th in 23:50.43 and Cece Chardon 48th in 25:44.23.

Altamont’s Katie Tedrick was 32nd in 23:39.8 and qualifies. Also competing for Altamont was Krista Hall 53rd in 26:36.47.

 

Cumberland’s Paula Hoehn advanced as an individual for the girls.

Shelbyville Regional

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City competed in the Shelbyville Regional.

Shelbyville’s Tessa Bowers won the girls meet in 17:06.3.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City’s Zoe Sarver was 26th in 20:53.8. Eve Flores finished 41st in 23:04.3, Harper Lilly was 50th in 24:09.9 and Laney Doty was 53rd in 24:28.8.

CHBC girls did not advance to the sectional.

August Cosart finished fifth in the boys meet with a time of 15:51.2. Also competing were Deacon Sutter 24th in 17:25.7, Eli Maxedon 35th in 18:04.5, Porter Lilly 44th in 18:45.9, Hayden Sarver 46th in 19;12.2, akiden Garrido 47th in 19;22.4 and Charlie Witteborg 50th in 19:26.3.

Cosart advances to sectional action.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg’s Ben Hille was 25th in 17:26.0 and William Eldred 54th in 20:01.5.

 

Baylee Summers and Alaina Miller advanced in the girls regional while Alex Gordon moved ahead in the boys regional

In the Class 2A Richland County, Olney Regional, Effingham finished eighth in girls competition as a team and 10th in boys action.

Mahomet-Seymour won the girls team championship with 39 points followed by Mount Zion 64, Champaign Centennial 98, Richland County, Olney 103, Mattoon 132, Urbana 164, Centralia 176, Effingham 202, Rantoul 239, Charleston 255 and Salem 276.

Champaign Centennial’s Farah Scott won the meet with a time of 18;11.55.

Effingham’s Baylee Summers finished 24th in 20:57.84 while Alaina Miller was 34th in 21:35.14 and Laynee Pankau 44th in 22:30.99.

The top six teams advance to the Mattoon Sectional this coming Saturday and those include Mahomet-Seymour, Mount Zion, Champaign Centennial, Olney, Mattoon and Urbana.

The top eight runners not members of the qualifying teams also advance. That included Effingham’s Baylee Summers and Alaina Miller.

In the boys meet, Mahomet-Seymour won with 35 points followed by Urbana 55, Mount Zion 96, Cahrleston 98, Richland County, Olney 129, Mattoon 176, Danville 179, Rantoul 235, Champaign Centennial 248, Effingham 251 and Centralia 311.

Mahomet-Seymour, Urbana, Mount Zion, Charleston, Olney and Mattoon advance as teams.

Effingham’s Alex Gordon finished sixth in 16:02.85 and will advance to the sectional.

Also competing for the Hearts were Ino Mapes 58th in 18:56.56, TJ Raddatz 62nd in 19:38.79, Gage Emmerich 63rd in 19:39.11, Mason Overbeck 67th in 19:53.85 and Anthony Bohnhoff 69th in 20:21.57.
