NEWTON — Newton High School won the girls meet while Olney was a winner in the boys meet in cross country action Tuesday.
The Eagles won the girls meet with 15 points followed by Efifngham 48, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 0 and Oblong 0.
Newton’s Heather Bergbower won with a time of 18:20. Also scoring for the Eagles were Avery Geier second in 19:10, Nora Street third in 19:38, Josie Vogt fourth in 20:07 and Kimberly Bierman fifth in 20:26.
Effingham’s Alaina Miller was seventh in 22:13.
In the boys meet, Olney won with 29 points followed by Newton 42, Effingham 70, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 110, Flora 110 and Oblong 117.
Olney’s Quaid Berger won in 14:19. Effingham’s Alex Gordon was third in 15:37. Newton’s Hayden Borgic finished fifth in 16:16.
