 Little Illini Conference Edges National Trail Conference In Central IL All-Star Basketball Game

The Central Illinois All-Star Boys Basketball Game, hosted by Cumberland High School, went to the Little Illini Conference by one point over the National Trail Conference, 74-73 Sunday.

The Little Illini Conference ran out to a 41-28 lead in the first half. Leighton Jones went on a tear, knocking in three from beyond the arc and two regular baskets for 15. Jay Goff added10 points while Tucker Osborn hit two three-pointers.

Zach Harmon led the NTC with seven points while Jayden Hughett and Jackson Icenogle put in a three-pointer each.

The NTC came back with a 45-33 second half run but still fell by a point. Cody Zimdars scored two baskets and two free throws while Reed Miller connected on three regular baskets and Icenogle two three-pointers, all for six each.

The LIC was led by Goff with eight points on two regular baskets, a three-pointer and a free throw while Lance Volk put in four baskets and Noah Wilson hit a basket and four of four at the line, each with eight points.

Lawrenceville High School’s Goff finished with 18 points on seven field goals, three from beyond the arc, and one of two at the line to lead the LIC and was named the Most Valuable Player. Also with 18 points was Leighton Jones with seven field goals, four of those three-pointers.

Only one player scored in double figures for the NTC. Zach Harmon connected on four regular baskets and was two of four at the line for 10 points. Zimdars added nine points and was named the NTC Most Valuable Player.
