Effingham St. Anthony captured two victories at the Metro East Baseball Kickoff Saturday.
The Bulldogs were 5-3 winners in eight innings against Harrisburg.
St. Anthony led 2-0 in the third inning. Harrisburg came back with a run in the fourth and then tied the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh. St. Anthony then had a 3-1 tally in the eighth inning to pull out the victory.
The Bulldogs had seven hits led by Charley Spour with a double, Rogan Allen with two singles and Chase Dorris with a single and an RBI.
In the game against Bethalto Civic Memorial, St. Anthony ran out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, tacked on two in the fourth and one in the fifth for a 7-2 victory.
The Bulldogs had eight hits led by Spour with a triple and two RBI, Henry Brent with two singles and an RBI and Aiden Lauritzen and Xander Beals with a single and an RBI each.
Hayden Bushur was the winning pitcher. He tossed the final four innings, allowing two runs on five hits, no walks and striking out three.
In junior varsity play, St. Anthony was an 18-6 winner over Breese Mater Dei.
The Bulldogs had a seven-hit attack and ended this game in the sixth, scoring 10 runs.
Freddie Jansen had double, triple and drove in five runs to lead the Bulldogs.

Altamont ran out to a 3-0 oepning inning lead and went on for an 8-1 victory over Carlyle Saturday.
Kade Milleville was the winning pitcher, going the first three innings, not giving up a run, striking out eight and walking one.
Altamont had seven hits led by K. Milleville with a single, triple and an RBI while Cooper McManaway had a single and double, Zaine Miller a double and an RBI, Brayden Elam a single and two RBI and Blake Berg an RBI.

At Olney
Richland County, Olney held a 1-0 lead until the top of the fifth inning. That’s when Effingham came roaring back with a five-run inning for the 5-1 victory Saturday.
Ayden Nealis singled for Olney, scoring the run in the fourth.
Effingham’s Wyatt Hayes had the lone extra base hit for the Hearts with a triple. Westin Hayes had two singles and drove in two runs. Carter Braddy had a single and an RBI.
Wyatt Hayes also picked up the victory on the mound. He went the first five innings, giving up one run on three hits, two walks and striking out four.

Dieterich captured two victories over Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine Saturday.
The Maroons won 16-2 in five innings behind a 13-hit attack.
Dieterich led 1-0 after the first, then scored four runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings around three runs in the third.
The Maroons had 13 hits led by Ben Schottman with a single, double and four RBI, Dom Ashley with a double and an RBI, Mason Lidy with a double, Bryce Bohnhoff with two singles and two RBI, G. Goeckner with two singles and an RBI and Carson Baxter with a single and two RBI.
In the second game, Dieterich won over O/H/P 4-2.
The Maroons took a 2-0 opening inning lead then tacked on single runs in the third and fifth innings. O/H/P’s runs came in the bottom of the seventh.
Dieterich had six hits led by Andrew Hall with a double and an RBI, Bohnhoff with two singles and Jackson Icenogle with a single and an RBI. Gavin Meinhart added an RBI.

Neoga took the early initiative with a 4-2 lead on Cerro Gordo/Bement and ended up with a whopping 22-2 count in four innings Saturday.
The Indians had eight hits in the contest and were aided by five Cerro Gordo/Bement errors.
Braylon Sparrow had a single, double and drove in five runs for the winners. Cayden Hakman had a double and two RBI while Mason Platz had a single and three RBI. Jack Finney added two singles while Grady Haarman added a single and an RBI each.
Coy went the distance, giving up two runs on two hits, one walk and striking out eight.
