 Boys High School Basketball State Tournaments Came To Close During Weekend

High school boys State Basketball Tournaments came to a close at the University of Illinois Assembly Hall during the weekend.

In Friday action:

In Class 3A, Deerfield edged Maple Park Kaneland, 49-48 and East St. Louis Senior won over Chicago Leo, 59-40.

The third place contest went to Maple Park Kaneland over Chicago Leo, 35-32.

Then Saturday’s championship contest was claimed by East St. Louis Senior over Deerfield, 52-46.

In the Class 4A Tournament Friday, Chicago Marist beat Elmhurst York, 55-38 and Lisle Benet Academy edged Chicago DePaul College Prep, 39-38.

The third place contest went to DePaul over Elmhurst York, 56-46.

The championship game, contested Saturday, went to Chicago Marist against Lisle Benet Academy, 44-28.

In other Saturday play, two championship games were contested in Class 1A and Class 2A.

In Class 1A, Goreville was a 64-52 winner over Chicago Marshall.

In Class 2A, Peoria Manuel defeated Quincy Notre Dame, 60-55.
