 Windsor/Stew-Stras Wins, CHBC Loses At Class 1A Tuscola Regional

Two National Trail Conference teams competed in the Class 1A Tuscola Regional Monday evening.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg ran out to a 22-7 opening quarter lead and went on to trounce Villa Grove 85-38 in Game 3 of the Tuscola Regional.

The Hatchets held a 38-15 halftime lead.

Four players hit double figures for the winners. Wyatt Wetherell connected on six field goals, two of those from beyond the arc, and five of 11 at the line for 19 points. Brody Bible added 11, Auston Rahn 10 and Tyler Vonderheide 10. Rylan Rincker and Jakob Gurgel added nine each.

The Hatchets finished with 11 three-pointers. Rincker and Gurgel had three each while Wetherell and Rahn had two each.

Villa Grove was led by Gavin Taylor with 14 and Tucker McGarigle with 12 and finished the season with an 8-18 record.

Windsor/Stew-Stras is now 16-14 on the season.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell to Hume Shiloh Co-op by a 74-55 tally in Game 2.

Hume Shiloh pushed into a 22-14 opening quarter lead but CHBC moved within 33-29 at halftime.

Hume Shiloh then went on a 20-11 third quarter run and finished strong with a 21-15 final period.

CHBC was led by August Cosart with 14 points on five field goals, three from three-point range, and two of two at the line. Clive Schlanser scored 12 and Remington Howell chipped in with 10.

In the other two games, Tuscola bounced Martinsville, 75-27 and Macon Meridian won over Bethany Okaw Valley 67-58.

In Wednesday’s games, Tuscola meets Hume Shiloh at 6 p.m. followed by Windsor/Stew-Stras against Central A&M at 7:30.

The winners then advance to the championship game Thursday at 7 p.m.
