DECATUR — Dieterich High School moved into a 15-14 opening quarter lead and led 38-32 going into the final period Thursday evening. But, Decatur Unity Christian went on a 17-8 final quarter run to pull out a 49-46 victory.
The Maroons were led in the opening quarter by Gavin Meinhart and Jackson Icenogle with four points each.
Alex Schottman hit a three-pointer in the second quarter as the Maroons had an 11-10 edge to lead 26-24 at halftime.
Dieterich continued on as Bryce Bohnhoff put in two baskets and two free throws and Brock Niemerg connected on a basket and two free throws in the third quarter for a 38-32 lead.
Unfortunately for the Maroons, Unity Christian got untracked and went on a 17-8 final period run to pull out the win.
Unity Christian was led by only one player in double figures, Dillon Clark. Clark hit seven field goals, three of those three-pointers, for 21.
Dieterich had three players in double figures. Bryce Bohnhoff scored on five field goals and three free throws for 13 while Ezra Cook put in six field goals for 12 and Brock Niemerg finished with 10.
