TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School was very consistent Thursday evening in handing Altamont a 57-27 girls basketball loss.

The Wooden Shoes moved into a 14-9 opening quarter lead, tallied 17 in the second period and 13 each in the third and fourth quarters.

Anna Probst got the Shoes off in the right direction. She hit two baskets and was a perfect five of five at the line for nine points in the 14-9 edge.

Alyssa Ruholl put in seven of her team’s nine points with three baskets and a free throw.

The lead went to 31-13 at halftime. Kelsey Niemerg took over the scoring duties for the Shoes with two regular baskets, a three-pointer and a free throw for eight and Allie Ruholl added five points.

Altamont scored ony four points and Sophia Long put in all four.

Five players scored for the Shoes in the third quarter 13-8 run and six in the final 13-6 quarter.

Niemerg led the way for T-town with 16 points on seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and one of one at the line. An. Probst chipped in with 15 on four field goals and seven of seven at the line.

Mallory Bloemer and Anna Probst pulled down four rebounds each. Bloemer, Sophia Martin and An. Probst had two steals each. An. Probst had one assist.

Altamont was led by Ruholl with nine points on four field goals and one free throw.

Teutopolis was a 41-19 winner in junior varsity play.

At Louisville

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged North Clay, 35-32 as two National Trail Conference teams met Thursday evening.

The Hatchets trailed North Clay 6-5 after the opening quarter. Emersyn Thompson scored four points for the Cardinals while Kendra Hayes led Windsor/Stew-Stras with five.

Hayes then went on a three-point run in the second quarter. Hayes connected on three for nine points and added a free throw for 10 of her team’s 14 points. The Hatchets led 19-11 at halftime.

North Clay had a slight 11-10 third quarter edge. Violet Price hit a three-pointer and Thompson put in four points.

But Windsor/Stew-Stras came back with a 10-6 final quarter for the victory.

Hayes hit five field goals, four from beyond the arc and was three of six at the line for 17 points.

North Clay was led by Thompson with five field goals and two free throws for 12.

At Dieterich

Dieterich tore out to a 17-3 opening quarter and handed Neoga a 45-34 loss in Thursday evening competition.

Dieterich held a 27-13 halftime lead. Neoga came back with a 12-10 third quarter and finished with a one-point 9-8 final period but couldn’t get over that first quarter run.

Addison Miller led the Maroons with 13 points on five field goals, one a three, and two free throws. Miller hit her 1,000 career point. Claire Faller chipped in with 12 on five field goals and two of two at the line. Miller pulled down 12 rebounds. Callie Faller had five assists. Lena Goebel led in steals with seven.

Neoga had one player in double figures. Lola Hartke hit five field goals, one from three-point range, and was two of four at the line for 13 points.

The Indians fall to 10-16 on the season and return to action Monday playing Teutopolis.

At Casey

Newton traveled to Casey-Westfield and handed the Warriors a 53-25 loss Thursday evening.

The Eagles had an 18-6 opening quarter lead and led 31-15 at halftime.

Allie Herrmann led the way in scoring with 14 points on six field goals and two of four at the line. Izzy Meinhart and Alani Bergbower chipped in with 11 each.

Claire Probst led the Eagles in rebounds with 10, assists with five and steals with five.

Newton improved to 17-9 overall. The Eagles will be competing in a Mega Day at Cumberland Saturday. The Eagles game will be after the boys junior varsity contest and before the boys varsity game.

Newton also won the junior varsity contest, 34-14.

Layla Kuhl led Newton with 10 points as the junior varsity improved to 7-8 on the season.

Nokomis came calling and captured a 70-23 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday evening.

Nokomis put the game away with a 24-9 opening quarter run.

The Bobcats were led in scoring by Lena Bowlin with nine points on three field goals and three of four at the line.

CHBC will be back in action Monday at Moweaqua Central A&M.
