 Bulldogs Hand Cougars 68-28 Loss In Girls H.S. Basketball

Effingham St. Anthony High School played host to South Central in girls basketball and claimed a 68-28 win Wednesday evening.

Nancy Ruholl got the Bulldogs off in the right direction in the opening quarter. Ruholl’s number was three as she connected on three regular baskets, a trio of three-pointers and three of three at the free throw line for 18 of her team’s 25 points.

The lone points for the Cougars were two free throws from Baylee Brown and a basket from Clarissa Johnson.

The lead went to 43-7 at halftime. Addie Lauritzen scored six points. The lone basket for the Cougars was a three-pointer by Amelia Montes.

St. Anthony continued on with an 18-8 third quarter run as Ruholl scored two more three-pointers and a regular basket for eight.

Ruholl finished with 30 points on 11 field goals, five of those three-pointers, and was three of three at the line. Lauritzen scored 12 points on four baskets and four of four at the line.

Lilly Gannaway led the Bulldogs in assists with six. Lauritzen pulled down 11 rebounds.

South Central was led by Jillian Jones with 10, nine coming in the final quarter. Jones hit four field goals and two free throws. The Cougars return to play tonight, hosting Dieterich.

St. Anthony improved to a perfect 7-0 in the National Trail Conference and stands at 18-8 overall. The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday at Pana.
