 Teutopolis Headed to Class 7-3A State Boys Basketball Tournament

Teutopolis captured the Class 7-3A Boys Basketball Sectional Wednesday evening and is headed to State.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 9-7 opening quarter lead and led 15-12 at halftime.

The Shoes kept edging with a 10-9 third quarter and then put the game away with a 16-9 final period run for a 41-30 victory.

Dylan Deters tallied 22 points for the Shoes. Bryson Meyer added eight.

Teutopolis (24-3) will now play Calumet City Wentworth (15-2) at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Class 7-3A State Tournament in El Paso.

In other first round games Saturday, Bradley Central (18-4) vs. Clinton (21-4), 10 a.m.; Lisle (13-5) vs. Vandalia (21-4), 1 p.m. and LaSalle Lincoln (18-0) vs. Metamora GS (22-5), 2:30 p.m.

The winners advance to semifinal round action Saturday. Winner Game 1 meets Winner Game 2 at 5 p.m. and Winner Game 3 meets Winner Game 4 at 6:30.

The winners of those games will head to the championship game Thursday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. while the losers will play for third place at 6 p.m.
