COWDEN — Neoga High School came calling and claimed a 56-44 victory over National Trail Conference opponent Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in girls basketball Wednesday evening.
Neoga moved into a 19-15 opening quarter lead as Chloe Frankie scored five points and Lola Hartke added four. Five other players scored a basket each.
Lena Bowlin led the Bobcats with three baskets and two of two at the line for eight points. Carissa Wakefield added three.
In the second period, Neoga pushed the lead to 31-23 at halftime. Natalie Ballinger went on a run for the Indians with two regular baskets, a three-pointer and a free throw for eight.
Neoga continued its run with a 13-7 third period. Ballinger added another three-pointer.
The Bobcats came back with a slight 14-12 final quarter as Wakefield hit two baskets, one a three-pointer and five free throws for 10 of her team’s 14 points.
Neoga was led by Ballinger with 15 points on five field goals, two from three-point range, and three of four at the line. C. Frankie chipped in with 14.
The Bobcats were led by Bowlin with 16 points on five field goals and six of eight at the free throw line. Wakefield added 15 on four field goals, one a three-pointer and six of 12 at the line.

At Brownstown
State-ranked Brownstown/St. Elmo took care of business Wednesday by pounding North Clay, 58-19.
BSE, ranked fourth in Class 1A, moved into an 18-10 opening quarter lead as Dayana Haslett put on the moves, knocking in three baskets and two of three free throws for eight points. Madi Miller contributed six on two baskets and two free throws.
Emersyn Thompson scored five of her team’s 10 points.
BSE continued on with a 12-2 second quarter to lead 30-12 at halftime and never looked back with a 22-2 third period run.
Haslett finished with 19 points on eight field goals, one a three-pointer and two of three at the line. Miller finished with 17 on six field goals and five of eight at the line. Presley Williams added 11.
North Clay was led by Thompson with six points and Ava Fleener with five.
